Backyard Fire Pit
Another way to go is find a used appliance store and see if they will sell just the inner drum from a used/parted out washing machine..dig a hole drop it in, surround with blocks and you are done. Put one in my friend's backyard, total cost $20 for the drum since he already had the blocks.
Thanks guys....pit works great, burned nice and hot for several hours the other weekend. Every 4th brick is gapped for airflow. Any higher and you may have issues with proper air flow to the fire or I would go higher.
Pit is dug down 6" on the edge and 8" in the middle. Middle has about 3" of pea gravel but no sand. I'm not too worried about burning the soil underneath, hopefully it kills a couple gophers in the yard
