Bad experience w/Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum

I registered there for the first time over the weekend. Right off, I responded to two guys looking for a soft tonneau (I had one to offer). The forum moderator immediately busted me for an “infraction” and I am now banned from the site.

Isn’t one of the main purposes of a forum to give members the opportunity to help each other? The more satisfied the members are, the more members the forum can attract and thus increase their ability to attract vendors, etc.

Maybe I’m missing something here, but I just don’t get it.”

Their site, their rules.

Something to ponder: what if every new member posted or replied with their 'for sale' items?

I don't see a problem with responding to a wanted ad. Now if your first post was a for sale-classified, it would look fishy and probably be deleted.

Most moderators are great and then there are some that exercise a God complex.

We have rules on our site concerning classifieds, as well. You can read them at the top of the classified forum, but inorder to post something for sale, you must have a post count of 10. That is to keep scammers from filling up the classifieds and keep people from signing up just to sell their stuff. This site is here for dicussion forums and the classifieds are just an extra for the members.

To buy something, if you try to post a want ad, when we see it, we will waive the post count requirement and move it to the Parts Wanted forum as that is different from signing up just to sell your stuff.

Either way, no sale or buy ad will be allowed in the discussion forums and will be removed. We won't ban you for it, but will ask you to understand and follow the rules.

Sorry to hear that....rules are rules and forums have them....moderators enforce them and moderators are human and have bad days and like to make a point.....

All good comments guys. Thanks.

If the moderator would simply have engaged me in a dialogue and asked what my intentions were, that would have been appropriate. However, he postured himself as someone who appeared to have made a good bust against someone who broke into the site. He reminded me of the proverbial guy who flunked out of cop school and was trying to exercise some authority he otherwise was/is not able to do in life.

Don't worry - most of the moderators on this site didn't even make it through "Mall Security Guard" school......

I would like to throw my 2 cents out there on this. A lot members on here and else where will spend a lot of timing reading and searching but not a lot of posting. They don't comment on every post about oil viscosity, pics of lifts, rims, intakes, exhausts, etc. This stuff has been beat to death on this forum. They may come across dtc Pxxxx which almost all have been beat to death as well. Anyway something I would like the moderators to consider is implementing a 3 month or 10 post rule to the classified section. Whichever comes first.
