Used iPad Question

Just got a used iPad from a family member. It still has all their stuff on it; family photos, music, etc. We want to keep all this stuff. How do I sync it with my iTunes account on my computer to make it mine, but keep all the apps, photos, and music?? Is that even possible?

From what I'm reading from results on google there's no way to transfer anything to your iTunes ID.

Best way I can think of, is get a dropbox account, download the app, and sync the photos to dropbox. Or, if you have OSX, plug it in and you should be able to export them with iPhoto.

For music, you can get Pod to Mac (http://www.macroplant.com/podtomac/) or iPad to PC (http://www.ipad-to-pc.com/guides/cop...pad-to-pc.html).

As for the apps, I don't think you'll be able to sync them and keep them on your iTunes account. Plug it in, open iTunes, right-click on iPad and click Transfer Purchases. See what that does.

Also, you can save a backup just incase family member got a new iPad/iPad 2.

You ever thought about jailbreaking it?

For all the music and photos and stuff I would do what Dinggus said. For the apps, the only way you can keep them is if you use the same iTunes account as the previous owner. That might not be an option for you, but that's the only way to keep the apps. Or you can jailbreak it, get installous, and then get every app for free.

My short experience with one (ipad2 for a couple of weeks) is they are flat not designed for multiple users, and it's somewhat painful to transfer. They are very self centered devices.

I knew that going in, but was amazed at how much it took to get into it, to do anything useful, and to unwind all that.

I don't know, I jumped right into my iPhone when I got it, jailbroke it the first day. iPad 2 was the same thing, I love Apple products.

If you plug it in you should get the POP-UP that says new hardware found and then it should ask if you want to open the folder to view files. From their you can at least drag and drop the pictures onto you PC. There are also a few apps that will open the music folder on the app to drag and drop onto your PC. Just make sure the automatically sync is off in itunes. No 100% positive on this info but it worked for me on the Ipad 1

MAN...that worked. I saved all the pics, all the apps, and some of the music. Awesome, thanks!

Still have one problem left...now it wont copy several pics/folders from my iPhoto library because it says they can't be displayed??? Don't know what's up with that. These are photos that I currently have on my phone just fine. Just normal pics taken on a camera and imported to iPhoto. I'm not even talking about the existing pics that came on the iPad, but pics I've had for ever. Any ideas on that one??

If your dragging and dropping into the picture folder that proabably won't work. I'm pretty sure you'll have to sync them in. If you've got everything off and you are satisfied with losing the rest the best thing is to do a fresh sync so iTunes recognizes as your own and then sync you photos and stuff back in.

I did all that. Photo's are sync'd properly. I go into iTunes and into the photo tab for my iPad and select the folder I want sync'd. Doesn't work, but all those same photo's work just fine on my iPhone which is what makes it strange.
