The military gives you a certain amount of money and once you do your time, you use it towards college. While you're going to college, the military will give you BAH (Basic Housing Allowance) as well. I was given $69,300 for college, am I ever going to use it if I get out, no.

Another thing, as of right now military people won't be getting paid on August 15th until this Debt Ceiling bill is passed. So, might want to wait to sign up for the military until then, lol. No need to be stuck on a deployment and not get paid for it. But, I'm not to worried about it.

Pure speculation. Nothing is official at this point. Unless you have some official statement announcing that. I work hand in hand with DFAS daily and nobody is saying that yet.

Most of this stuff about vets and seniors not getting paid is pure scare tactics. Is it possible? Sure. Will it actually happen? Doubtful.

As of right now, from what I read and what USAA put out there is a chance, but like I said I'm not to worried about it. Backpay will happen. What I don't like is the government even thinking about touching military money, lol.

Professional Sports and politician's shouldn't make over $400k, that's even to much.

But, I was just giving migdaddy the scoop since he wants to join, just be prepared on threats about money.

Then you are an idiot. Sorry to be such a tool on the internet, but you are. That's free money that belongs to you. You're the reason the government makes a killing off the GI Bill...soo many guys like you just giving the government free money at no interest.

I'm a staff guy at the HQ level and there has been ZERO rumors of this, much less anything official. It's was scary back with the last budget round of issues, but absolutely no talk of such this time.

Yeah DFAS isn't saying anything like that right now either. Its pure liberal media driven BS.

Go for it.

I'm ex-Navy (Radioman) and had many good times. Keep your nose clean and do what's ask of you, if you don't know ask someone. You'll be 40 yrs old before you know it then you can retire. Good Luck.
