Mine is a my touch thru t-mobile. It is a 4g phone and I can operate my laptop off of it and do daily since I don't have an internet connection on the jobsite right now. I'm not sure what att's version is of this phone but I have been very happy with it. Even dropped it a few times and it keeps on tickin. The only thing is when running the hotspot you have to keep the phone plugged in to the charger or it will go dead quickly.

Samsung Galaxy S

AT&T calls it the Samsung Captivate. Sweet phone! I have had it for about 4 months now and I love it. I got a refurb for like $50 i think.

If you don't care what it costs, the Atrix is the most sophisticated smartphone on the market, you can even get a docking station for it that turns it into a netbook. Otherwise, just get a iPhone.

Samsung Captivate, Samsung Infuse 4G, or HTC Inspire 4G. You will be set with any of those. I have the captivate.

The only smartphone that AT&T cares about is the iPhone. So if you want something that will provide you the least headaches, just go with the iPhone.

If you were on any other carrier, I'd recommend an Android device, but AT&T rapes all of their smartphones with extra bloatware and their tech support sucks for anything other than iPhone.

Blackberry is essentially dead. Developer support is abysmal. If you want good support, plenty of new apps every day, and just a much more pleasant user experience, iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone are a ton better than Blackberry.

Of those three, AT&T only know how to support iPhone well, they don't care about anything else.

I have the Samsung Captivate and love it. I personally stay away from the IPhones. Too much proprietary stuff with it. All cell phones are going to a common power adapter which is nice if you don't have your charger with you you can use someone elses. Apple got an exemption and will not use the new one. Also, as soon as you buy the IPhone they announce the next one is coming out. The 4 recently came out and they are already talking about the 5.

As far as support, I have never needed it so I don't care what it is like. If they "only care about the IPhone" then I assume they have had many problems with it.

So much so that an apple USB to 110VAC adapter will not charge a standard phone. I found that out this weekend. A friend has an iPhone and had that adapter that he was using in the truck. I wanted to use it in our hotel room to use the wall outlet to charge my phone, no dice. The Samsung brand cable worked just fine with the Microsoft/Ford Sync system to charge two Nokias but the one apple part would not work with anything else.

Plus I despise apple's business practices. I will never own one of their products. They respect no other companies patent rights but yet have the most aggressive patent lawyers in the tech industry. They treat their workers like absolute crap. I refuse to support them in any way.
