Nora Roberts who writes romantic suspense novels under the name J.D. Robb. The "In Death" J.D. Robb novels feature a female detective in sort of a science fiction police procedural vein. Set in the not so distant future and married to a really wealthy dude with connections all over the world. She's an extremely prolific author, and a lot of the books are pretty darn good. I'm a Michael Connelly, Jo Nesbo, Stieg Larsson, etc. reader and Robb's novels aren't that deep, but they're generally fun and fairly quick.
