after rebates they are asking $22,545. MSRP is $25,045 with $2,500 in rebates. i have seen other places i can get $3000 in rebates. i was wondering what everyone thinks i could knock the price down to?
is $20,000 reachable? could i get more out of them? i sent them an email asking what they would take off of the MSRP BEFORE any trade ins or rebates and im waiting for a response (not open on sundays). i thought the week before the 4th of july might be a good time to get a good deal?
thoughts?
suggestions?

$19 sounds great.
i currently emailed 4 different dealers in my area showing a slight interest in escape's. i have my eye on this one but have not shown this to that sales team. its actually for my fiance so we can get the newborn in and out of the vehicle better. a chevy cobalt just dont cut it anymore.
for a 4wd 4 cyl. this is one of the best deals i can find ATM. i have found many that fit this criteria but they are higher end models which we dont need.
thanks for the advice so far!

He can't get to 19 on that rig. His cost is just over 20 including holdback and advertising. The rigs they can deal on are the ones with options. Options are a profit center for the dealers and it gives them room to make a deal. This unit has only one option- the automatic transmission. He doesn't have much room to negotiate and make any money. If you can get him to 21, you're doing good. Watch the interest rate if using dealer financing. They can hit you for an additional point or two and put another 5-700 in their pocket.
I haven't driven a 4 cylinder Escape but I have a V6. I've heard complaints from the 4 cylinder owners that the engine gets noisy and clunky after a few thousand miles. Might wanna find a used one somewhere and test drive a used 4 banger. At least you'll have a clue what you'll have after some miles are on the clock. I've considered an Escape for replacing the aging F150 for the hiway vehicle but it didn't ride near as good as the truck. Mileage was only slightly better with the V6 over the 4.6 Supercrew on the road.

When I negotiated on my wife's Escape back in 2005, I got them down to 15% off MSRP, plus the rebates. Using that same formula would put yours around $21250, plus the rebates. I think if you get that deal it would be pretty fair for all involved.....
By the way, we went with the V6 in ours and have been very happy with it. I've driven the 4-bangers, and while they actually perform pretty well, they can get a bit "buzzy" unless you're just going around the corner to the store.

Get the invoice for the car and start dealing from there with rebates and trades!! I don't even look at MSRP!

I drive a Ford Escape almost every day here, and we gotta take it in the shop every few weeks as of right now, sometimes it doesn't like to go faster than 5mph, I can floor it and it just stays there, if parked it idles high. But, that's most likely due to the weather where I'm at.
