For the MAJOR gearhead

I just got back from a rescue call from a friend. He calls and says he's with a friend and the Chevy 350 engine will crank, idle, but not do anything else. They're 60 miles from home and need help. He says bring diagnostic tools and a toolbox. Jeez, my toolbox probably weights 400lbs but I loaded up and went on my way...to the rescue. So I get there at a steakhouse they broke down at and here's Frank and his bud chatting with a couple of cougars in a Suburban. I asked if the Suburban was the problem and he said no, it's over here. Walk around the Suburban and here's a 350 cu in making 450 published HP, cam, headers, Hilborn injection, sitting in a Trike. Yeah, a three wheeler. A full automatic transmission being pushed by 15" wide tires. This is without a doubt, the ultimate butt rocket! After I found out what the problem was, I took it for a short ride. A very quick but short ride. It'll hit a hundred before you can spell yer first name. Incredible power! I want one! Here's what they look like and are for sale if you can stand the price tag.

And the problem was the throttle cable came loose. An easy fix and well worth the 120 mile round trip to fix. the above pic is a gallery pic but the one I fixed is identical in color and apparent options. They are called Cheetah Choppers. This one retails for $36,900.00

Holy crap -- there's a lot of margin in one of those things at $36k....

There was a news story back in Minneapolis last winter about a guy who used a 350 Chevy engine to make a walk behind snow blower -- let's just say it didn't bog down in heavy snow.....

Lawnmower seats???
Yeah in the pic they do look like a lawnmower seat but they are actually pretty plush. They have optional seating too. But the leather was NICE-REAL NICE on the backside. Looks like the max engine for these is the AMG 6.3. That leaves a helluva lot of room for mods up to and past 800HP with just a few bolt ons. Wonder how many Green Stamps it would take......

What's the estimate on the weight of that thing?

It looks to be mostly steel construction from the picture which means it will be pretty heavy. I'm curious what would be the comparison in power to weight to a modern sport bike. Most 1000 class bikes are 150-180 horse at the tire but only weigh 375lb or so. If this thing is 450 at the crank figure ~420 at the wheels. A few rough figures make me think if it is more than 1100lb or so the production bike will be faster and cost about 9-11k new. That leaves at least $24,000 to have more fun with.

How do you turn that thing. Looks like you would have to "slide" the handle bars over about 3 feet to make the thing turn 45 degrees unless there is some sort of power steering I don't know about.

Trikes are their own metric.

It's all about the smiles per mile.

Yeah, for that much coin, any decent bike or car will run rings around it on a race track. Drag strip or road course.

Want to roll on the throttle on the freeway and light up some big 'ol tires? Go trike!

The guys who buy these probably already own a full dresser Harley, a liter sport bike, a GT500, a Ferrari, etc..., etc...

Millionaire and got a hot wifey who does not like two wheels? Bingo.

Cool toys for big boys.
