Finally 16!!!
The truck is a 2004 - which can be had for around $12,000. That's only $3,000 for a quarter of it. What's so hard to believe about that???
Why don't you quit trying to tear this kid down and praise him for WORKING (something kids don't know about anymore) and helping pay for what he has. Just because he has a newer truck than you doesn't mean you have to get your panties in a wad. Apparently your reading comprehension needs some work also - you must have missed the point about carrying a lawn mower.
Happy Birtyday BTW!!!

Well, I'll give you a couple of weeks to get over the shakes. Maybe you will learn some manners while you recover.

Here's to hoping!BTW - I looked on KBB and private party value for his truck (not exact, but what I could see by the pictures and guessing around 100k miles) is 16k. That's only 4k for him to put down and while that may seem like a lot for a 15yo, consider he doesn't have bills. Once again, great work on saving and paying your way.

We payed 18k for it including stock rims and tires, and the 20s with new tires. I payed somewhere between 4 and 5k, can't remember exactly how much. And besides carrying around a lawn mower, I've gotta have places to put wood, toolboxes, equipment, deer, and haul trailers every once in a while.
its going to look even better with the leveling kit!
im sure you will take good care of it, be careful of backing up out of parking spots next to suburbans, thats how i wrecked my 1st f150. now i always try to pull thru a parking spot.

I love the guy who is bashing saying he couldnt possible afford it. My truck cost me a lot more than that, and I bought it by myself. Its in my name, my insurance is in my name, and you can be certain that NO ONE drives it but me. Oh and I am a kid too.
As far as having fun with it, I would suggest not doing anything too often. I am not a good example really, but I like having fun too much. If you are doing donuts and stuff one night, I highly suggest a radar detector and police scanner. Its not 100%, but my *** has been saved so many times by those items that I cant begin to comprehend how many tickets I would have otherwise.

Don't let your friends talk you into doing dumb things like mine tried to do
My first truck was an 87 Chevy that was technically my dads. I didn't pay a penny except for insurance, gas, repairs and mods but I certainly appreciated it and took good care of it, but then again thats just how I was raised. Congrats on the truck, looks good Last edited by Justin_w32; Jun 28, 2011 at 03:19 PM.
Camopaint, you sir are blinded by jealousy. I got my truck 2 weeks after I turned 16. Its an 04 screw lariat 4x4 and had 50k miles. I paid 16k after tax tag and title. I paid with my money. Some people know how to save money and work their asses off...I have also paid for all the mods I have done in the past few years which total around 5-6k. Atr,
keep it parked away from other people, off of tight trails where its gonna get scratched, and out of deep mud. If you want to play off road get you an older 4x4 ATV and give That hell. Not your daily driver.

I started driving my '98 when I was 15 and it was only 1 year old. Drove it ever since; high school, 6 years of undergrad and grad school, numerous construction jobs. I never hesitated to use it or pull a trailer, but I always took care of it, washed and waxed it regularly, oil changes, etc. I'm 27 and I still drive it every day. 135,000 miles, scratched and dinged up a little, and a little bit of rust on the bottom of the cab, but it still runs great and is very reliable. I -may- have done a few donuts in the snow before. Actually a lot
I've had friends that have torn up 4 or 5 trucks in the same period of time that I've had mine. Having a paid-off vehicle that you can drive for years will only help you save money. I could easily go buy a '12 F150 today, but then I think ... why?

I forget how much his ticket was.
