Or if your girlfriends like mine... Do nothing to it. Mine doesn't care about mods. She won't even wash her car, I do. She only cares if it is not running.

Save your money for your new truck.

I agree with the fusion. My mom has a 2010 sport and it's a zippy car.

I had an 02 tahoe. The 5.3 seemed to do ok. Very comfy ride, handled nice in ice and could hold 50-60mph and stay under control. Seemed to be well balanced since I have been on the ice with numerous other vehicles that couldnt do the same. Only problem was at 56k I lost the rear differential (not sure what broke but it snapped during some dry pavement burnouts/cookies and a downshift) cost of repair was 1650 at a shop. Other than that... not bad

Good one, but Fords now come "pre-rusted" from the factory!

Not to be a smart a@# here, but it seems you like Fords, why did you buy a 04 Tahoe when you could have had a 04 Expedition. I am GM ASEP, and I can't say the Tahoe is a bad vehicle. But the biggest difference is the fold flat seat that the Expy has, the 3rd row seat in the Tahoe is heavy and clumsy to remove. The legroom between the 1st and 2nd seat in the Tahoe is smaller compared to Expy. The Tahoe has a live axle and the turning radius on them suck compared to Expy. As a tech that works on GM vehicles all the time, I can say the 5.3 will leak more fluid than the 5.4 ford (5.3 leak around the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, and valve covers), you will hear a 'clunk' noise coming from your intermediate steering shaft every time you turn the wheel more than once (DO NOT REPLACE IT, THE NOISE COMES BACK VERY QUICKLY), you may have a clunk coming from the '8.6' 10 bolt rear, you will go through brake rotors quickly, you will have axle shaft seal leaks on the front differential, you will chew through tie rod ends, your power steering pump will leak around the shaft, and eventually your drivers seat will move in opposite directions of what you are asking it to do. Also commonly the speedometer will stop working, and front wheel bearings often go bad (ABS light). BUT: Tahoe exhaust is pretty much easy to convert to dual, chevy did a good job on their 'y' pipe. In 2006 the tahoe got electric fans from factory and I think they will bolt onto your 04.

can't believe no one has asked. 4.8 or 5.3?

I'd strongly recommend doing LS1 fans on it, with the PCM harness adapter and get that fan off the W/P it will prolong the life of the notoriously weak W/P

5.3. It's an LT pat . It's got some power and will be getting a blackbear tune soon enough.

Mikeyss- I understand your post and heres why. I got the tahoe cuz it's a simple vehicle plain and simple. The parts are very easy to come by and as an example you say roots wear fast well they're dirt cheap so I can easily replace them for the same or less than having them machined.

Also the expys in the area weren't anything special. Theyre wasn't much selection and this tahoe was priced right and very clean. Got it at a great dealer and got the right financing and wells was the only one willing to give me the loan on it being an 04. So all in all it was the right truck and my fiancé loved it so we got it.
