need help, cd burner question
Recently purchased HP cd burner. How do I transfer info from a disc in my cd-rom, to my burner? I haven't tried yet, but couldn't find a clear answer in the manual. Let's say I have a music cd, and want to put it on a new cd. Will I use Windows explorer to find the song? I am not a computer person, so these questions are probably easy for someone out there to help me. Thanks in advance. If it helps, I have a Gateway with 6gig, pentium II, and the burner is a Hewlett-Packard internal 8x4x32.
I am assuming that you have Adaptec (Roxio) software with the burner.
If you want to copy an entire music or data CD then there will be a program called "CD Copier" in the Adaptec Easy CD Creator directory. It's straight forward and easy to understand.
If you want to take songs or files from different CD's then use the "Easy CD Creator" program from the same directory. It will allow you to assemble and burn a CD from different sources.
Either way I suggest that you don't try to do anything else with the computer while you are burning the CD.

i agree u need the adaptec software..chances are the software came with your burner..if u just want to make an identical copy put your disk in your original drive and the blank in the burner..the program has a buttom that says (cdcopier) just click it and off it goes...if u want to pull certain songs off from a cd its a litle tricky but here it goes...use cd creater another button on the adeptec software and right click the songs u want and transfer to our harddrive..then drag those songs to your list and burn them...ill give u step by step if u need it hope this helps
Here's how!
Here's an excellent how-to article:

I always use the EXTRACT feature to store tracks my hard drive, then ADD them to the new list from the C drive.
I also usually use the disk-at-once option. This will eliminate the gap between tracks; a necessity when recording albums with songs that flow together.
