unemployment in PA
the shame is, that many believe it will get much worse before it gets better. until there is confidence in what we have running the country it will not improve.
and to think after all of this there are "OBAMA 2012" bumper stickers to be seen!

The reason the Federal extension funding is being REDUCED , is due to the unemployment rate in PA DROPPING. Again, DROPPING, below the level to get federal extensions.
So it sounds like things are better in PA than say MI, and you are complaining about it ?
Right from the PA Employment Security web site :
Federal guidelines determine eligibility for extended unemployment benefits and, as a result of a drop in Pennsylvania's unemployment rate for the three-month period ending in April 2011, the state no longer qualifies for the extended benefits program.
Under these federal rules, maximum duration for benefits for unemployed Pennsylvanians will drop to 73 weeks.

You are equating the reduction in federal funded extensions to the unemployment insurance in PA, and the extension being capped at 73 weeks ( BTW that is over 1 year in case you missed it ) to what the federal rules are, and somehow blindly blaming the GOP for it, where in fact the reduction in the UI benefits are due to PA doing better than other sates.
As said above, when does spending money you don't have, become something that needs to stop.
The US is already $ 62T in debit, would you like to shoot for $ 100 T ?
- Want to see unemployment rates climb, let that happen...
I guess this can be looked at in different ways.
One way is to believe that only the federal government can spare the people from any and every hardship. That it is within the scope of the federal government to ensure that unemployed people are making a living.
Another way is to believe that the federal government has tried several different ways to protect the people from the pain of hardship, all of which have been utter failures. It is time to use common sense, tested methods of allowing the private sectore to retain more of their income so that they have confidence in the future which will inturn stimulate the economy.
There wouldn't be the need to extend unemployment benefits for anyone if there were the confidence that the future would get better. That's not the feeling right now, with the failed redistributave change that is being tried now.

Some of you guys here crack me up with you"re holier than thou attitude to wards someone receiving unemployment benefits. This person may have been giving to the system for 10,20,30 even 40+ years of hard work and all of a sudden BAM your unemployed. Now you have a family to feed bills to pay your medical is now GONE you don't have gas for the car/truck your youngest one is now ill and you weigh taking the sick child in because now it is coming out of your pocket and that pocket is drying up fast so now you eat or your sick child stays sick what's a man or woman to do now???.
If our unemployed people need the help then i am all for it. NOW with all the leaches that suck the SSI/welfare/medical system dry becuase they don't want to work well now this is where we get busy and have mandatory drug testing and home evaluations evey 3 months to weed out the lazy basturds that refuse NOT to work and that money can go towards the working person that now finds him or herself out of a job.!!!
I'm just saying......

FWIW, those of us that aspire to make more than the average taxpayer have a much bigger share than the $1+ million. You younger folks? Yep, your share is way more than $1+ million, too.
Got kids or grandkids that intend to work as professionsals or get rich someday? Yep, their share would be way above the $1 million already committed to.
Keep in mind that's just the unfunded entitlements. There are all kinds of additional types of government spending on top of that $1 million per taxpayer.
It's not a pretty picture, but it's time to face the music.

Actually, you're just a bit off there. Try this instead:
Republicans - For big business
Democrats - For big government
So when I'm struggling with who I want running everything, I always ask my brother (the big liberal in the family) to name me just one efficiently run government anything. (And remember, nothing the government runs has any competition.) Enough said.

This is a bit of an exaggeration.
Unemployment Insurance is a state program, and the federal gov can provide for extensions to the UI ( 50% of it ) in bad times, but the state has to have a minimum unemployment level to get the federal extension.

Now this is just an out and out false statement. This has not been proposed anywhere.

Indefinitely funding unemployment benefits is called welfare.
Finding a job is easy, it just might not be the job that you want...
The people that go through life with the mind set of "I deserve this and that" are always the most unhappy and most unsuccessful.
If you subsidize something, you get more of it. If you tax something, you get less of it.

If he did 1 bit of independent research on a topic, it would be a sign of the apocalypse.......

This is so true. I think it is more so a "right to" not deserve.
I think unemployment is great-even though I've never bee able to indulge, for about a year. Thats enough. If you cant find something in that amount of time to bad. I know people who milk it for everything they can it gets down to the last few weeks and they miraculously come up with a job. They are to the point where they can get it for nearly 2 years now. That's just to long. another thing why is it the same guys are on unemployment over and over. There should be a limit like you can only get it every 10 years..
It’s easy to feel sorry for “unemployed” people - at least on a superficial level. Where some of us have problems is when an “unemployed” person has been without a job for 10 years, hasn’t actually looked for a job on nine and a half years and screams bloody murder when anybody threatens to take them off the public assistance roles. I’m sorry, but I have no use or sympathy for that kind of person. It’s kind of like asking me to feel sorry for “single teenage mothers.” OK, but if one of those “single teenage mothers” is 16 years old, has 10 kids from different fathers and does nothing to care for her kids, I have a bit of a problem feeling sorry for her.
Let’s be real clear here. Unemployment benefits are supposed to be a temporary fix for those who lose their jobs. There is no guarantee that they will run forever and / or until you get your next job. As a wise man once said, “Survival is optional.” I’ve been unemployed twice in my life – for a grand total of less than a week. (And I’m in my mid-50’s.) I’ve never collected a dime of unemployment insurance, but have paid into it for my whole life. Let me tell you what I experienced when I was last laid off.
Before I’d even officially left the company that had laid me off, I jumped into a Career Counseling service that was provided to me for free. The service was there for those of us that wanted / needed help in finding a new job. Oddly enough, less than 50% of those laid off even took advantage of this free service.) Since the company that provided this service also provided it to other companies, I got to see, hear and meet lots of other folks in similar positions.
At one group session, we were all asked to introduce ourselves and explain what we used to do (before getting laid off) and what kind of work we were looking for. One lady who had been laid off from a big three automotive company got up and explained how she had assembled a particular part for 30 years. That’s what she’d done and that’s all she wanted (or was qualified) to do. Oh, and the reason she was laid off is that the part she assembled is no longer used. All I could think of was how screwed she was. Can you really feel sorry for someone like that? I can’t. By the way, I had a new job making even better money that I walked into the day after I was officially done with the old company. She’s probably still “looking.”
So, before we all feel sorry for somebody, let’s make sure we’ve got all the facts.

heres an idea that might help - got it in an email
What did Presidents Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
This is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.
I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens
in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.
Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.
In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans. The program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean veterans would have a better chance at jobs.
It took two years, but they deported them!
Now if they could deport the illegal aliens back then, they could sure do it today. If you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Why you might ask can't they do this today? Actually the answer is quite simple.
Hoover , Truman, and Eisenhower were men of honor, not untrustworthy politicians pandering for votes!
Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes - 12 to 20 million illegal aliens - are depending on you!
