I have a cousin that's a vet. She does incredible work with animals. That's how I know about Metacam. Glad she's doing better. Now you need to find an over the counter vitamin that also includes Glucosamine and Chrondrotin to help things along. If you can't find one, Walmart carrys Schiff brand for people that works fabulous. Look for the one rated at 1500 mg and give her half a pill per day. My old dogs get it daily and it helps a lot. Their kinda like me, getting old and slowin down.

x2 for the Glucosamine. My in-laws have a Rott/Lab mix that has been having hip problems for some time. They started giving her the Glucosamine every day and she's definitely noticing a difference. She is still a little stiff in the morning after sleeping all night but after she goes out and runs around, she's good to go.

My sister was always a cat person, but one day her husband brought home a Rotweiller puppy he rescued that was being used to train fighting dogs. He was torn up and scared, but cute. I always thought they were a mean dog, but Aiden proved to be the friendliest dog I ever met. I flat out loved everyone and he was so gentle with little kids it was amazing.

Amy had to put Aiden down a few years ago after about 10 loving years. He forever changed my view of the breed and it sounds like you have a similar loving dog. It's tough to watch them gow old though.

I'm glad you listened to Labnerd instead of me. Hope she continues to improve and has good quality of life.

As for Labnerd always sounding as if he knows what he is talking about, I have to agree. Even when he doesn't! Just kidding, just had to take that opportunity. I really appreciate all his contribution to the site.

Sounds like a great ending here. We all love our pets like family members.

Now if that glucosamine/chondrotin supplement doesn't start working on me they're putting me down.

Opened the front door and she walked to the Van and sit down. That means she was ready to go to work . Sitting up here with me right now acting great.

Good news man! I am glad she is doing better.

Gotta agree with using the glucosomin. Been giving it to my Yellow Lab for her hips. It works!

Actually, I take Glucosamine every day myself. My shoulders were getting pretty ragged out from working out etc...The stuff is great.

Glad to hear your dog is doing better, she's not ready to leave ya yet.

we just put down our 10 year old german shepherd from degenerative myelopathy......it sucks because she was still with it in her mind, but her body just wasn't cooperating with her.
