Truck Sputtering
Truck Sputtering
About 3 weeks ago I filled the truck up with gas and parked it behind my house.
Since the cost of gas has been crazy, I've only been driving the Impala (my beater) The truck has sat for 3 weeks straight.
So yesterday I take the truck out, it fires right up no problems and I took it down to get my e-test because I need to get my sticker for my plate.
As I was driving it was sort of sputtering a bit and losing power, almost felt like the gas line was getting pinched. Anyhoo, I took it for a run down the highway and gave it some WOT, and after about an hour of driving it was fine.
No more sputtering or hesitation. What do you guys think, bad gas maybe?
By the way it passed the e-test with flying colours.

Hard to say. I do know vehicles can act up a little when not driven for a while. I see it all the time in body shops i have worked at. Every now and then you will have a vehicle in the shop for 3-4 weeks or more. They do not get driven like they regularly would. In most cases you see batteries die that are towards the end of their life cycle. Ive been blamed for many batteries dying in my day. I would get complaints to that the vehicle wasnt running right after they picked up the vehicle, but had straightened out after a bit of driving.
Maybe it was just mad at you for ignoring it and wanted to let you know
You would think if it was bad gas that you would be seeing problems until you ran through the whole tank.

When I had my 2001 it sputtered a couple different times. One time it was a bad coil pack, the other time it was a transmission solenoid, but with the solenoid my overdrive light was flashing too.
I wonder if this was just a bit of water in the tank? We've had such heavy rains this past month. The good thing is that the symptoms entirely went away yesterday. I even had it out today for a run into the city and all was fine.
Thanks for the replies.
