WOW!!!! Is this guy serious???

Women! It's your job to prepare for your rape!

Kansas representative Pete DeGraaf is fighting for a bill that would exclude abortion coverage in cases of rape. He thinks the state should stay out of that problem, and it should just be something that women "plan ahead for":

Bollier asked him, "And so women need to plan ahead for issues that they have no control over with pregnancy?"

DeGraaf drew groans of protest from some House members when he responded, "I have a spare tire on my car." "I also have life insurance," he added. "I have a lot of things that I plan ahead for."

You heard the man, ladies. You should all just get organized and make plans now for the aftermath of your rape. Maybe set up a cookie jar in the kitchen and tuck a dollar bill in it now and then, as your rainy day rape abortion fund. Your supportive boy friends and spouses can cheerfully contribute, too, and if you're a member of a lesbian couple, you could have a matching pair (for cute!). Get one for your daughters, too, and start them on saving a little bit every year — after all, young girls get raped, too, so you might as well make it a regular feature of their lives.

By the way, the compassionate Pete DeGraaf is also an associate pastor. I am not surprised.

Well they shouldn't "plan ahead for it" but I would say they should take certain steps to prevent it. Carry a firearm, don't go to shady places, know your surroundings etc.; but of course these are no brainers.

Of course, but women shouldn't have to keep a 'rape' piggy bank around in case they get pregnant from getting raped.

I agree that is absurd but a little precaution goes a long way. I don't understand why more women don't carry a firearm to be completely honest.

I agree that people should be allowed to carry firearms. Sadly here in the State of Illinois we can't carry firearms which would lead to better safety for many.

However, on my morning commute, my desire to have a turret mounted on my truck may be a problem in most states!!!

I hope that is what he meant. Such as in this instance just 30 miles from me: http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news...20110511-am-sd

And that wasn't even in the city of Atlanta, but one of the burbs.

Being that the source K-mac gave was full of liberals, they took what he said and ran with it. The man made no mention of keeping a 'savings' account or insurance policy for rape.

From what I'm reading (the original source link here: http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2011/05/..._flat_tire.php), DeGraaf is calling for a ban on abortions of rape pregnancies being covered by the general health plans of insurance companies.

I think this guy is right that abortion should be illegal in all cases.

Why should an innocent baby have to be murdered because of a heinous crime?

Two wrongs don't make a right unless you been edukatid in duh publuk skuls.

Yeah I don't see any where him actually saying that they need to do that. He said something as far as being prepared but looks like they may have taken some things he said out of context.

Why should a woman be forced to carry that burden against her will at the cost of her well-being?

You can argue against abortion in any other case, I won't agree with it as I'm pro-choice, but that's your thing. To argue against abortion in the case of rape is out of the question in my opinion.

Well if this is the case then government should not be able to tell an insurance company what they can cover and can't cover. If he doesn't want abortion to be legal he needs to pass a law that makes it illegal not place restrictions on insurance companies. Honestly I think that abortion is wrong. The only question is at what point is the baby actually considered a human life. I don't have an opinion on this because I don't believe I know enough about the process to form an educated one.

There's always adoption. If someone can't afford to give birth, there are organizations out there that help. Ask any woman that's had an abortion, and they carry that guilt for the rest of their lives.

It's easy for a man to say, "meh, just kill it".
