Stargate (Questions)
Stargate (Questions)
OK, I decided to come to this repository of information because I've only recently began to watch any of the Stargate shows. I'm DVR-ing all three franchises now, and I see that in Stargate SG-1, the Gou-a-uld are the ones everyone seems to be concerned about. In Atlantis, it's the Wraith- who are supposedly such bad-*****, they whipped the Ancients without breaking much of a sweat. Stargate Universe, well- that seems a little dark to me, and I'm finding it difficult to pay attention to (Kinda like the last season of BSG).
So, I know they are in different galaxies (not that this seems to make a difference given the FTL ships), but- Who’s the real bad-**** in Stargate? Is it the Wraith or the Gou-a-uld's? So far, I haven't seen any crossing of these lines (I believe the last Gou-a-uld (Anubis?) was killed in Stargate: Continuum)
So, if there are any Sci-Fi heads out there, with their finger firmly on the pulse of the Stargate franchise, can you give me a cliff-notes version of who's who in Stargate-ville? I'm watching them now, but with hundreds of episodes to watch, even watching daily, is gonna take forever. Esp. when Sci-Fi will show a 2004 episode at 8 PM, then a 2009 episode at 9 PM... Kinda hard to get on top of this puppy.

the Gou-a-uld, and later on the Ori, were pretty much only in the sg-1 series and the Gou-a-uld seem to have only operated in the milky way galaxy. The Ori were from a far distant galaxy and were serious enemies of the Ancients. As far as I know, the wraith never got as far as our galaxy and were at war with the ancients before and during the time they were doing the ascension thing. I haven't been following Universe too much, so I can't help you there. I'm sure Wikipedia has a comprehensive breakdown of all the goings on...

But, for $9.95 I get streaming and the DVD's as well. They did have the one I was referring to at first.
Watch Stargate the movie first, there's a few things from there that are carried over into the story of SG-1 especially in the first few episodes. Then watch Stargate SG-1 until the end of Season 7, once there you can start watching Stargate Atlantis because that's where the two story lines intersect. Then after finishing both of those series you should watch Stargate Universe. Universe is a whole new story line without a whole lto of carry over from the first two series, but there's some characters who won't make sense without learning about them from the previous shows.
I started watching SG-1 back around 2002-2003. Just stumbled upon it one day while flipping channels. IMO it's one of the best TV shows ever made.
