Hit and run help

On Sunday my truck was hit in the Enterprise, AL Lowes parking lot. A witness gave me this info. A maroon Heritage type F-150 backed into my truck and then took off. He got the tag number ( 83C64Z9 ) but not the state. The local police said it's not an AL tag and my insurance company could only rule out FL. Can anybody help ID the state or person?

check the serial format for Alabama, it looks like the number and letter pattern exactly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...serial_formats

I was hit three years ago here in NC. A buddy got the tag and the police said it wasn't a registered tag in NC. About a week later they called and said it was a NC tag that was old and not in the computer sequencing system.

Shouldn't Lowes have security cameras?

I live on the MS/TN line and it's too many digits for either of those on a standard plate. I'd just turn it in to my insurance company and let them deal with it.

Here's examples of all the state plates. Only a few get close to that pattern.

Dont worry too much. I was hit in an Office Depot lot. I had a witness but she didn't get a tag. It happens. People are douche bags who don't take responsibility for themselves. If your insurance company won't help you, they're you're best resource cause that # would mean they get their money back. If they won't research it for you, it's their loss
