This is a completely different war than Iraq. These people are fighting for themselves. There is a big difference between the two.

If we help them gain freedom, it will be a win. Let's just hope and pray we don't have to send troops in.

I another dictator take over it will be a lost war. If we win, the rest of the World will follow. Three Countries in a month.

Didn't know you were an internationalist, Tumba.

The end result in these nations will be worse than the dictators. Give it time.

I am personally tired of seeing American blood poured out for other nations. Call me jaded.

Fight them there now, or here later, it's our choice. imo
We have been shown, that we're not free. 9/11 proved that.
As far as being an internationalist. That's really not it. But the World is getting smaller every day.

Problem with helping these "rebels" is that alot of them are directly linked to the ones we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Doesn't make sense to me.

IIRC when Regan had trouble with Libya he took care of it with about 6 fighter jets, got real quiet real fast. With Obama we will be lucky to get out of there in 6 years!

Also it's typical Obama-say nothing concrete and let every body make up their own version of what his plan is.

this is exactly what i was thinking. the people that we are helping out are the people who plot against us.

I herd that it still costs us 40 million dollars a day for us to be there, and this is after we gave control to nato.

just for the republican guys, say if obama did go and talk to congress and took longer but got their approval, would you be against it still?

I know im against it, we have no intrests over there even robert gates said it.

and it was all hillarys war, not obamas, he got pushed around by her because her husbands biggest regret is not interviening in rawanda.

I worry more about the POTUS, who has the power to send troops to fight and die when he says that no ground troops would be sent under any circumstances.

My statement was about Marines, specifically, and I was in error. We have had a small number of ground troops in Libya since the get-go.

Maybe you should be more rigorous in parsing what Obama says, being that you are a Vietnam vet. And I mean that with respect.

Maybe you should owe up to your mistakes without it having to be dragged out of you. And I mean that with respect.

For what it's worth the foreign press seems to be over their love affair with the obamanation. The BBC has been coming down on him pretty hard in Europe.

Interesting.

In your opinion, are the BBC coming down on him because:

A) He's not far left enough
B) He's too far left
C) He's an empty suit

C, they are tired of trying to figure out what he really means when he or someone in his cabinet says something. In the almost 3 weeks I've been here no one seems to like him. For all is apologizing he seems to have done nothing but come across as a spineless moron. No big surprise to me, I've thought that since 2004.

I would say it is more so they have seen enough of his ambiguous speeches and the policies that are not in the best terms for a country long term.

He has that stink about him, with the talk about arming the rebels not being ruled out ( even though 5 members of the UN security console abstained from voting, and France voted no on removing the arm embargo just for the "rebels" ).
The talk about how the UN is going to take things over, when the bulk of the money ( almost as much as the UK and France together put in ) and the European Allied command is a from the US ( they see the double talk in his speeches to the American public ).

I would say more so they have him pegged as a slime ball, that if needed, is going to hang the blame around everyone's neck ( the UN ) if things go to pot in this campaign.

Between him and Secretary of State Clinton, not having a clear cut end game, but keep talking about wanting Gaddafi to step down from power ?
- Makes it sound as if this will only stop when Gaddafi steps down ??

Russia is all over this conflict saying it is an internal battle, stay out of it ( they are going to "Afgan" the UN on this one, getting a 2nd chance to pay back the US for the 80s in Afghanistan ).

This is even more ill prepared than Bosnia, and ground troops where there until 2005 ( started under a different name in 1995 ).

China is staying out of the voting, but is already talking about how the campaign best not violate UN resolutions, by having civilians being killed.
They seem to be staying on the side line, reminding everyone about the repercussions of the actions they are taking. Got me what this will come to, but it does not seem good.
