Calling All Bow Hunters...

Just starting to get into the sport, This bow comes with fiberoptic sights, one of the pins is broke, and a stablizer, for $300. Looking to you all for some help on what to look for when I check it out tommorow. Or if there are any pro's or con's, or if you think its a good deal or a bad one. Thanks.

Looks like a good one. Any idea how fast it shoots???? FPS!!!!! I see it's a single cam. I had a double cam and that sucker was fast. I sold it last year because I hardly bow hunt anymore.

Bow hunting is alot of fun, my uncle got me into it and hes pretty freakin good, he split an arrow with another arrow! I draw 65 pounds and can do 70.. so you should definetly do 70, get the max fps!

If you arent looking to spend a lot of money id try and find yourself a Mission Bow. They are made by Mathews and you still get the mathews warranty. They have some nice stuff. I almost got one myself, but splurged and got myself a Z7 last year. As i am also new to the sport. This is kinda like anything else...Ford is better..chevy is better...mathews is better ..hoyt is better....etc....They guys I know live by Mathews so thats what i went with.
Bow hunting is a blast, i wish i could do it for a living

Yea, thanks for the input, I met the guy yesterday and its in almost new condition, It's also got a whisker biscut on it, and its around 350 FPS, set at 70lbs draw weight, 25-30'' draw length, Pretty sure Im going to buy it. It has an oversize cam, which made it super easy for a 70lb draw weight. I was quite suprised. 80% let off, no nics, or scrapes on the limbs/cam/wheel. It's not the best bow, but I'm just starting, and I have hunted all my life with rifles and I want to start doing 3D shoots to really challange myself.

Put yourself a set of hind sites on it and you'll never use peep sites again.

350fps? Is that IBO or actual? dang thats pretty fast...whats the draw length. Gotta be at least 29" to be gettin that or shooting too light of an arrow w/ a single cam bow... Im pulling 70# with a 28" draw with the lightest arrow i can shoot. Im pushing 315 or so. thats what the machine said anyway.
most of your double cams will pull out some FPS, but they arent as smooth or forgiving to shoot in my opinion. as goes with an aggressive single cam, not as smooth.
Anyway good luck and you will enjoy it.

A nice hard case thats not expensive is like a hundred bucks...So i guess now its up to which is the nicer bow. Im not familiar with either one....also new vs. used cost of that bow. if you can get a new one for a couple hundred more id do that.
Other thing is sites..you may or may not like them....100 bucks will get you a nice set of fiber optics, whisker biscuits are cheap...40-50 bucks....arrows for your draw length
release aid arent bad either......just in case you dont like the one it comes with. Keep searching, see if you can find one with roller assist. It really quiets a bow down when you draw it

I just checked ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=170173658586. hers an example of what im saying...for 200 bucks you get a brand new one with fall away rest and sites.....

I would not focus too much on the accessories as I would the bow itself. Once you start shooting more, you will find that archery is much like your truck, you will keep tweaking stuff, swapping out parts etc. I am currently shooting an 08 Bowtech, and am very happy with it.

Also, much like a gun, try to put your hands on it, and if possible shoot it b/f buying, some will feel better to YOU than others.

Not that it matters, but here is a pic of my current set up.

Smokey, I clicked on the first link to ebay and the bow listed was selling for $599? Not sure if you saw somthing I didn't.

Thats a sick setup mdhawkin, I would love to buy a bowtech right out the gate but I'm new to the sport and can't afford a new Bowtech. haha

I haven't had any issues with my parker. I don't have pics of it yet. Have you checked Cabelas or Bass pro?

Yea, I have been looking around a bit, one of the reasons I am leaning toward Alpine is because we have a alpine store here in town.
