The car must have some serious sentimental value to your mom? I'd be concerned about the coolant as well..... If it's got any 'iron' in the block, it's gotta be all rust by now...

Your right they are not many of them on the road.... This is or will be her only new car that she has ever owned. Dad always bought new vehicles for him and she always got used. So mothers day he went out and bought her a new one.. She had a 91 cougar that dad found on a used car lot in 1994 in a small east texas town. It had 16,000 miles on the odometer and when they traded it in 1999 it had 24,000 miles.

Man that 91 was a nice car... V8 engine, leather interior, dual exhaust. not a scratch ding or anything on that car..

Well almost 2 years later she has put a lot of mile on her cougar .. I was able to wrestle the keys away from her and take it to the car wash for its 4 year wash and wax.

Since this thread was started she gets the oil changed once a year when it comes time for state inspection. Last year she got all fluids changed and the dealership told her everything looked perfect.

As of this morning here is the odometer

And some shots of it at the car wash.. This is the longest its ever stayed outside. Maybe 2 hrs max. Never been on a wet road in its life, windows never rolled down, lights never been turned on (except for inspection). Back Seat has never been sat in, Passenger front seat maybe 3 times(i opened up the passenger door at the car wash and it was stuck i had to give it a little tug before it would open), Trunk never been opened either.

No need to change the oil , ever. Unless your letting it sit an idle. The oil won't go bad sitting in THAT motor. For any period of time. The way it's dirven, I doubt it would condensate enough to matter unless its in a VERY cold environment, -like the freezer. So I wouldn't worry in that sense.

BUT yea, it's definitely not going to hurt.

Nice car, for sure.

LOL, just what I was thinking. But, hey, it IS her car and she loves it. Even though it has no real value.

Nice, I have many trucks that don't get drove either. The '84 has had only 225miles put on since '04 for example. I do yearly changes on oil of my non runners.

I would just change it when ever it looks diluted or not like fresh oil.

Drove the car today.. Its been 15 month since i last drove it and its had 1200 miles put on it. Took it to get tires and a battery and ended up the fuel pump went out as soon as i pulled into the tire shop.. Just my luck..

KingRanchCoy,

Let me take a look at this for you. Send me a PM with your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll see what I can do to help.

Thanks Ashley, Its already being taken care of.. We tried to get a motorcraft fuel pump and assembly back into it but they are discontinued with ford. Had to settle for a aftermarket one.

Awesome story. Glad I read it.

I guess it doesn't matter if the fuel pump is used hard or not, if it's 10+ yes old she might die anyway.
