I have been wanting to tint my soft top and did not know about the non adhesive tint. Guess I know what I'll be tackling this weekend. Thanks for the post!

ha you got that right. What does it weigh? 2,000lbs, maybe?

Thats what I don't like about scouts. Sand and mud they sink straigh to the bottom.

yeah lol samurais weight around 2000lbs i believe. i found a guy on youtube and talked to him. he had one on 38.5's and it floated below the door line so i think 39.5in. boggers will be perfect since they're really wide too.

finally i have an update for this thread.

while i was tinting my top windows i was an idiot and cut the tint out while laying it on the top. well needless to say i cut straight through the back window at the bottom. it was barable but i just decided to buy an already tinted top later and make this one into a bikini top. i think it looks great. i also got a bestop cj5 rear seat that fits perfectly in the samurai.

oh and yesterday i ordered the next 6 inches of lift, 3 inch body and 3 inch shackles, so its getting bigger soon for the 39.5s. also in the past week i have been making a bumper for the samurai since i had some steel laying around. i think it looks pretty good. i just have to put the mounting brackets on the back and weld it up some more. also im going to drill some holes for lights and shackle mounts. heres as far as i got as of tonight.

well its been a busy weekend.

the body lift and shackles came for the samurai.

the first body lift i've ever put on went pretty well. i did it by myself in a day. i finished up a few little things today and put the shackles on. i'll have to modify the front drive shaft because of the lift and maybe the rear but not much.

heres some pictures. by my measurements it should clear 39.5s pretty good.

I'll bet without the flares and some bumper trimming the 41's could sit right outside of the wheel well

Cool build. I'm a Suzuki fan myself (I have a Sidekick project). Diggin' the bumper, too.

Looking great as usual! Any concern about it being top heavy and tipping since it will be so high?

with the tires that are on it yes it feels top heavy. i think once i get new tires it will fix it. the new tires are 18 inches wide on 14 inch wide wheels that stick out far.

well that hurt , i just ordered some 5.38 gears, install kits, some quick disconnect straps for the doors, a spool for the rear, and a lock-rite locker for the front. looks like i'll have plenty to do next weekend.

here are a few picks i took of the bumper mocking up the mounting brackets. i should finish that this weekend.

Yea, you ruined it with that body lift IMO. Was a nice a build. Now it looks like a piece and it's most likely harder to work on. Y did you do that ??? You had a solid build. Should take it off

You'll figure it out down the road.

I don't believe I'll "figure out out down the road." this samurai is built for mud. its already built wrong if for anything else. height is what I'm trying to achieve. lifted springs aren't for rock crawling and neither are longer shackles and neither is a body lift. there is nothing else I could do to lift it another three inches without having to do some serious modification to the drivetrain (cut and turn the axles).

I need the height to clear 40 inch tires, and actually everything is easier to work on. shackles are lower down so they were easier to install, engine has more room and I can get to the bottom of the body to bolt seats in.
