Remenber a veteran!

Memorial day is comming up soon and I wanted to share something my city does to honor vets.

I was going through town this morning and the street lights have banners with names/pictures of active service members from Corona (where I live).

It was so cool seeing the names and faces of what were once the kids I coached in sports or from Boy Scouts, who are now serving their country. It kinda helps keep hope alive for me (not that hope and change garbage) that our country will be alright!

Just was wondering what other places do to honor their vets.

To those who have served or are now active THANK YOU!!!! We owe you alot.:bows:

Yes thanks to those that served! I appriciate it very VERY much and am thankful to live in this country. We might be going through a rough time now but this is still the best country to live in thanks to our soldiers!

What a great idea compared to what we do.

We just all try to wiggle into our old uniforms and go down to the courthouse near the stone monument honoring our counties fallen soldiers. The bugler "plays" on one of those new electronic bugles. A couple of local mayors and the local Commander of the VFW or American Legion might make short speeches, then we all go have a couple of beers. (Which is the main reason most of us have to wiggle into those old uniforms.) Just an observation, it's mostly the older Vets that still get a little teary eyed during the ceremony. Patriotism was different back then.
I barely remember hearing about my Grandfather from back in WWI, my Father in WWII and me in Vietnam. Once I got home it drew my Dad and I together in a different way than before.

To echo Jgger:

To those who have served or are now active THANK YOU!!!! We owe you alot.:bows::thumbsup

That is great that your town is honoring the men and women in the Military.

That is an awesome way that your town honors service members!! A just a note it is great for us that are active duty like myself to see this kind of thing. Especially when we are deployed like I currently am. So to all of you that show support thank you too.

And pray for those now fighting as we sit on our couches, warm and dry.

I know how it feels to be there!

Thanks guys who are still in. Ill be joining you again soon enough.

I cant stand being out of the action and not in the Military anymore. I got out thinking the civilian world was going to be great once again, and I cant seem to keep my mind off whats going on.

I guess I just like to be in the know when it comes to Military and the job, so im going back in and with the whole situation in Africa it might even be easier to go back in. Cant wait to no longer be a Vet!

don't forget the families of those who've served and those familes who've been left behind by those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice...
