A truck just isn't a truck without 4 wheel drive.

I like 4x4 trucks, but in Houston, TX, the need for them is almost nil. In my opinion, trying to sell a higher dollar used 4x4 in a market like this is likely a DETRIMENT to most buyers, rather than an incentive.....

Back home in Minnesota -- different story.....

Should be about as many looking for a 4X2 as there are looking for 4X4... if the primary use is hauling materials around on highways and paved roads and towing around on highways in the more temperate climates then who wants to haul around the extra weight and drag of that extra axle. It often gets you lower gas miles and it subtracts from your total towing or hauling capacity.

But if your moving stuff around the farm a lot and in areas often affected by snow then its a plus.

But there are probably far more people not needing 4X4 than there are KNOWING they don't need it. I finally got to the point I don't invest in it anymore.

At the time I bout my '08 Screw (May '09), the dealers in the Tempe/Mesa area were desperate to sell 4x4s. I had a hard time convincing them I didn't need nor want one (especially since most looked beat to death).

You will normally get more for a 4x4 truck than a 4x2 truck but you pay more on the front end so it is a moot point there.

It depends where you are located but that isn't a guarantee. You can sell a 4x4 truck to a larger market for the most part. That said many will buy a 4x2 even in the snow belt and they will be just fine.

Most people don't need 4x4 but it's good to know you have it! Just in case.

hopefully someone else will be the same way when you try to sell the truck....

Here in west texas its hard to sell a 4x4, cause people think they have all been threw hell and back. people here just use 4x4 to mud and screw around. Guess it all depends on where you live.

I got 18500 for mine. 2006 lariat 4X4. had 75000 miles on it. Sold it on the lot in two weeks for $20900 It probably had more options, but in Missouri I think a 4wd is a little more popular. Also i like the way they sit better, may only be a couple inch block in the back. Also just because it doesnt snow or rain or whatever the reason may be the one time you will need 4wd you wont have it. Thats worth it to me. some trucks will get hung up in wet grass and you are done nancy!!

Pat really needs to lock his computer when he's not on it. He's always getting "post-punked" by people.

These past 2 winters i think people in Texas have needed 4x4 for snow more than people in Michigan. last year when Texas got 12" of snow it was 54* in Michigan!!!

This year i think Texas has gotten more snow than Michigan total.

A 4x2 truck is like a pretty girl whom is however, well flat chested, & skips like a rock thrown in the water when swimming!
