Ford idles Dearborn for a week

Look like Ford is idling the Dearborn Truck plant for a week. Shortage of parts for 3.7 and 3.5 Ecoboost from their Cleveland engine plant.

Like I said back in August, the 3.5 EcoB is going to be a Job2 introduction. But the morons that seem to think they have a clue bad mouthed my comments. FWIW, there's more to the shut down than a lack of parts. There is some re-engineering going on. At least Ford is doing the right thing by the consumer and the workers in this. That's more than the zipperheads at Toyota can say. They still have unaddressed issues with the Tundra and the Taco.

Question - How are truck sales right now on the 2011s? If they aren't selling like hotcakes like Ford had hoped this is a good way to level inventory a bit too. I am just wondering if the rising gas prices and the possibility of a high gas price 2011 are bringing truck sales down.

Only way to truly know is wait til the 1st or 2nd for Ford to release the data. Might try Edmunds or some other sites that estimate, but that is all it is, an estimate.

I can tell you for a fact this has nothing to do with lack of sales or gas prices. They want both plants to be working 10 hour days and KCAP Saturdays. This is solely due to a parts issue and like mentioned I have heard there is more than meets the eye to this problem.
