Cell phone provider poll/questions
I pay $140 a month for 4 smart phones with unlimited everything except minutes. We get 1400 anytime minutes for use when talking to a lan line before 7:00 pm during weekdays. Anyother time or when talking to a cellphone its unlimited.
I have been with Sprint, At&t and now Verizon and I can say without a doubt Verizon has by far the best coverage around these parts. In the 6 years I have been with them I have had very few dropped calls. Where I work I always have about 3 bars where my co-workers with other carriers have service go in & out all the time. However, here lately it seems like the last few phones we have had with Verizon have not held up very well. The first few LG phones we had were rock solid but now it seems like they are very cheaply built. Dont know if any of the other phones are better or not. It just seems like neither me or my wife can get a phone to last a whole year. Which really sucks cause you can only upgrade every 20 months. Gets irritating!!

If you like Motorola and need a rugged phone, why not give theirs a try. It is called the Barrage. They even claim it can even be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Verizon offers 5 or 6 rugged phones if that is what you are looking for.

Update: My Convoy died again today at about 6pm. It had been on charge for probably 3 hours this morning, after being dead, and started out at 3 bars. This phone has had no problem lasting a whole week without charging up until this point. Cosmetically it is in good shape but the phone just won't keep a charge now and something isn't right. The battery shouldn't go from great to s*** in 2 days, and its less than a year old. Sorry for the rant but Verizon and their phones just aren't cutting it for me anymore.

Wow, that's cheap. I have four smartphones with unlimited everything and 1400 minutes on Verizon, and it's about $225 a month, and that's with a 20% discount through my work. You must be on T-Mobile with prices that cheap.
I have T-Mobile with 4 lines and pay $124/month. I love their customer service especially since I always get a rep in the US instead of the Philippines like the others use! The service I get is great and I love my BlackBerry Bold. I have been eyeing the My Touch 4G though!
I don't use my cell phone a lot, so I'm cheap....
I've been using Tracfone, but am switching to Net10 because they have better options for phones in my area (Tracfone owns Net10). Costs are $0.10/minute, and you have to periodically "refresh" with new minutes (e.g. 60-90+ days). Basically costs me less than $10/month on average.
Verizon is the major wireless carrier in my area, so its CDMA wireless technology at the moment. Of course Tracfone / NET10 "host" off the Verizon network, so I get the same great coverage that Verizon customers get.

I had Sprint for about 1 year and would drop calls in the kitchen then go 10' into the living room and have full service. Then I went to Verizon and haven't had a problem since.
I'm the same as you phone's always getting dropped, around saw dust ect. and I'd go through 1 or 2 phones every year. Two years ago in March I got a Boulder and it's been abused and still workin like the day I got it without any problems other than a glitch hear and there. All in all I'm happy Verizon and the Boulder.

Everyone in the country says that. If you find a city the service works in, it normally has issues in surrounding areas. I haven't worked out west really, so there may be some good spots, but I haven't found many.
Somebody else feeling my pain. Yea, it sucks to have a new phone and it last for less than a year.
Its not just about having a durable phone, the customer service sucks IMO. I got the Boulder the day it came out because I wanted the best and most durable phone I could possibly get and then the damn thing wouldn't hold a charge after about 9 months. It ended up being cheaper to get a new phone than to replace it with the same at that point.
What provider do you have? Not a bad deal at all.

BTW the main line gets a full upgrade rate every year.

We have had Verizon now for quite some time. While we get a 15% discount through my wife's work, what is great is that the service has been excellent for us. As for the Iphone, I am interested but am going to wait and see---many folks really like the Droid, so when them time comes, I will have a decision to make.

If Sprint works for you, then more power to you. My experience with Sprint and AT&T were horrible. I've been with Verizon for 6 years, and I don't think I've dropped a call in that time. Verizon has let me upgrade my primary line every year too. In six months, I might go to the iPhone, but will definitely switch to a 4LTE phone.
