4. Currently that price is around $60 a barrel with 8-12% going for exploration and development.

What we have is a speculative bubble. When will it burst? If I knew that I would be a rich man.

PS All that is not to be taken to mean that as replacement resources become more and more expensive oil will not eventually lose its dominance in being the energy resource of choice. Just that its not going to happen tomorrow.
While I agree with you. Somehow OPEC has been able to artificially inflate the price of oil since they were given the monopoly with USD. I would think IF it bursts it will be something like the real estate bubble of 2008. I would bet we will see it hit 80/100 and bounce back and forth around there.

I predict 8 - 10 years of minimal rise though (I would almost say below inflation).

Now if something happens and they successfully start trading in other currencies, then you will see it crash like an SOB as china buys it on the cheap.

Also FYI it closed above $90.00 USD a barrel today.

I typically put fewer than 500 miles per year on my F-150, so the price of gas will never really be a concern to me as far as that vehicle is concerned. However, I will concede that $5.00 per gallon gas might force me to reconsider purchasing an "econobox" as a daily driver.....

I will keep the truck and if I have to pickup a daily driver that is fuel efficient.

I'm not going to stop doing what I love (fishing, camping, hunting, boating) because oil prices go up.

I don't think that that will be enough my truck already cost me $150 a week to fill up as is so another 10-15 dollars a tank isn't much considering...Gas price increases usually make me think more about where I drive my truck but its not gonna stop me from doing what i want unless it goes up to $10 that's my breaking point.

Bottom line is people adjusted their way of life to live with $3/gal gas and higher heating oil etc. People gave up certain luxuries because they "need" a truck, love to hunt, fish etc. The Democraps and Republicant's are well aware of this so the price will go up until they find a new accepted high price. The Democraps love high energy prices so they can push their "green renewable energy" agenda. Republicant's love high energy prices because most of them ( our former pres.) have ties to the industry and they can cry their "drill baby drill" campaign crap. In the end, like everything the working people, middle class to lower class income have to pay for the Rich's greed and corruption, and the poor/welfare. To defend either political party makes us ignorant.

Gas prices by me are at $4 already. Lucky for me my neighbors civic is sitting in her driveway because she is studying abroad for a year! 4 banger civic here I come! In San Diego I can easily see the gas prices being $4.50+ by summer. Especially with all the tourists we have visiting.

The boss's sister just came here for the weekendin from California. She has a Lexus and runs Premium in it. She said it's $4.79 where she lives.

When I got my truck in the end of October gas was $2.75 a gallon. 5 months later it's almost a dollar more.

My commute is relatively short, only 20 miles each day. I can usually get though 2 weeks worth of driving before I have to fill up. If gas hits $5.00 a gallon, I still won't sell my truck.

Well, as Habs would say ... "buncha pansy cwybaby wimps"

It's been at - or over - those pricing levels in Canuckistan for some time now ... and we still have roads clogged with F150's, TuRDs, Slobberados, Doodges, Dissans, and other assorted land yachts - most with one driver and nothing in the bed nor attached to the hitch - ever...

Now, Europe - they make yer gas prices seem free ...

Y'all fat-assed Texicans need to adopt a "bicycles + walk + mass-transit" mindset.... do y'all some good. Work off them brekkie burritos. Y'all starting to look like Oprah ...

Cycling & motorcycling season is almost here though -

Were at 3.69 here now in the western end of new york state. Ive only had my truck since early november. I only drive 32 miles a day to and from work. 5 dollar gas wouldnt hit me that bad. I also do alot of hunting, camping and outdoors related things so having a good truck is a huge benefit.

I do have a second car, a 06 nissan 350z that gets 19 mpg. About a good 2 full mpg more than the truck. Not huge but i may think twice about taking that instead of the truck if im just going to be running some errands or what have you. Every little bit of fuel economy helps these days.
