New computer build

I am just starting a new computer build, I will be putting everything together tonight and tomorrow. I just thought I would post it up and see what you tech savy guys thought.

Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133183
79.99

Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817159072
69.99

Processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116368
Board
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813121394
Came together in a bundle for 215$ board will be replaced later.

Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820139075
105$

Video card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121415
109.00

Main HDD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-023-_-Product
40gb version 65$

Storage HDD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148433
2 of them 125$

Heatsink
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835887023
29.99

OS
Windows 7 ultimate 64bit
Already own

Total cost around 800$, I bought the board processor and SSD from intel with a coupon code for 318.26 the rest I bought on newegg mostly during their black friday sale. When I get a little more play money I will change boards and install a liquid cooling system and overclock, but right now I am just wanting to get it put together so I can play. This is going to be the first system I have set up in EFI so I am looking forward to some fast boot times and getting to play with that. I really wanted to go with the gtx 460 video card, but I couldn't make myself spring for it.

Nice case, I got the coolermaster storm scout, looks close to the one you picked.

I like these PSU.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006

Corsair makes good PSU IMO.
I don;t trust a 900W PSU that is cheaper than the 750 I have.

I would spring for the corsair if I was you, its not much more and I am failry sure it out preforms that PSU you picked.

CPU/Board
I don't like Intell sorry, I am running a AMD 6 core and a Asus MB. I can't remember the MB model, pretty sure its a corsair by Asus.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103849

Ram,
Im not feeling that either.
Here is what I am using.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231314
Not only is it cheaper I think its a better product.

That video card, I know nothing about it.
Here is what I am running.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-476-_-Product

A SSD?
Waste of money IMO.
I am running two WDD 460G HDD caviar black. 0 Issues with any WDD product.
These are cheep and work great, 640 each.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319

The money you save on not getting the SSD could have been better spent else where, like a XFX 5870 and saving some money on the ram then getting the corsair PSU.

I don;t like the storage driver either., WDD all the way.

Ill agree on the HS, I got a similar setup for my 6 core, its setup with a push pull dual fan.
I also have a 240MM fan built in my case, a 120 on the side, the two cpu fans in push/pull and then the front and rear 120MM.

Windows 7, I agree. I have 64 bit as well.

I sepent about $1650 on my PC, but I also got a $50 mouse and K/b.

Liquid cooling? ill pass, I already got 3.23 ghz out of my 6 core and can easily go higher but I have no need.

Most single cpu games are not going to need that, and dual support I got any game smoked (IMO).

Sorry, I dislike Intell and Nvidia, owned products from them before, was not happy.
Loved all my ATI/XFX and AMD WDD items.

HAHA I am exactly opposite, I don't like amd and I much prefer nvidia. I wanted a fully modular PSU, thats why I went with the one I did. I like kingston memory, I have heard bad things about gskill, I love the SSD its much much faster than even a 10,000 rpm drive. I like seagate over WDD all day, have had nothing but good luck with seagate.

I have to agree with Titan on a few things. The PSU looks sketchy, the RAM is lower quality, and the 450 seems low compared to the rest of the rig. OCZ makes good quality RAM that won't give you any fuss, and 8 gigs seems a little overkill. I have 4 gigs and can run everything.

I really need to update my computer, haven't in about 2 years. Still have my Core2 overclocked to hell though and its still going.

I take Intel/Nvidia over AMD any day.

I am sure corsair has a mod PSU.
Personally a PSU in one area I DO NOT want to skimp on, its the heart of a system and I can trust my 750 all day, every day for a long time.

I don't even come close to maxing my 750, what you got won't either.

Not that it means anything, but kingston is what walmart sells.
I have that ram, and I know three other people who also have it and have had no issues.

Not that it might be true, but I hear SSD often wear out much faster, and the extra read/write is not worth the $$ IMO.

i wanted to get two sets of that ram but after waiting I noticed I have room for one more stick, its tight in my case the 5870 and my PSU are both massive, I had to remove a side fan to fit the cooler.
But I love it, its tool less, and I have room for 4 more HDD and 3 more cd/dvd blue ray drives.

Its honestly over kill, I think metro 2033 is the only game out right now I cant max because my 5870 cant handle it at a smooth frame rate.

When I was building this, I wanted a very easy to upgrade and future proofed system.
My budget was originally $1,500 but I fell in love with the G500 lazer moue and my saitek K/B and I wanted the 5870.

Next year Ill likely pick up a new GPU and replace the 5870, even though this time next year the 5870 will likely be low/mid range and sufficient.
My 6 core, like that I7 will be enough for a few years, but I think in the long run if programs start using 4-6 core's I can squeeze a bit more life out of it.

But in two more years from now I bet Ill be building a new PC from the ground up, likely with a higher price tag.

But, its a nice system you got picked out, and I am sure it will do fine, I would skip liquid cooling and spend the money else where.

If you really want to liquid cool, try using a large fish tank and veg oil.
Google around, I am sure you can find it.

Why? ATI was dominating the market last year while nVidia was still scrambling with Ferni.

Amd ftw! If I get busy working on computers here soon, I'll be building my new Windows 7 beast featuring the legendary AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition. 3.2Ghz 6 core monster!

Studio recording and mixing will bow to me!

I've been Intel forever but I think when I rebuild mine again I will go AMD. I built it one year ago and the I couldn't rebuild it if I wanted to...mobo is discontinued and the DDR2 RAM is so expensive because it's "old tech" now. haha

Crazy how fast things in technology change.

According to every thing I can find on the power supply it is great up to about 900 watt, if it doesn't perform like I want I will change it. The graphics card is not as nice as I want, but with a baby on the way my computer fund got cut short. When I get a little more saved up I will sell this card and buy a gtx 460, and eventually sli them. I should have it finished up tomorrow, I will post the performance index and my thoughts on it.
Btw does anyone here have any experience with efi?

Sorry man, Coolmax PSU's are crap. I also don't trust Seagate drives any more.

Corsair PSU and WD Black drive FTW.

You bought the right SSD. I don't trust anything but Intel on those.

I got the 6 core, but the base one and OCed to 3.23 and have room to spare.
I wonder what kind of monster the 3.2 would be with a good cooling system.

I have none with EFI.
I don't like SLI setups, they are very hit and miss.

P.S

I need a new game pad, recommend me one.
Was thinking of getting a 360 controller.
For racing games.

I have a wireless 360 controller and can't get the damn thing to work with my PC.

EDIT:

Just ordered one of those new ATI 6850's. I just couldn't pass up that kind of deal for just $165 with free shipping.
