Corsair PSU and WD Black drive FTW.

You bought the right SSD. I don't trust anything but Intel on those.
LikeI said if it doesn't perform I will replace it, I have never had problems with segate but it does have a lifetime warranty.

Well got it up and running, and it is fast. Efi is amazing, my total boot time from the press of the button to workable desktop is 21 seconds, shut down time is about 9 seconds. The graphics card is my limiting factor on the windows index score, but here is what is scores.

Processor 7.5
Ram 7.5
Graphics 7.2
Gaming graphics 7.2
Hard drive 7.3

Not bad for 800 bucks, EFI is ridiculous it makes the boot and shutdown times almost nothing. I also like the fact that I can change my motherboard without having to reinstall everything, just switch boards plug everything up enable EFI and boot up.

Is that a Sandy Bridge board? I've been thinking about building a desktop, but my current desktop (a Dell XPS 420 with QX9650) really does everything I need in a desktop computer. My Alienware M17x is faster than my desktop, but I use it 99% of the time. Here's the WE score for my laptop...

Nice pc's guys, glad you are happy with yours OP. I just paid my final payment, today. $1,011.20. I had payed $660 in payments before I just finished paying it off.

At least its mine now!

Looking at getting the next gen ATI card in about 6 months.

the M17X is ok, but I don't like laptop, or alien ware. Not saying they are bad, I just they its over priced most of the time. You can build the M17X to like $6,500!

For half that I could build a raging desktop, because at that point the M17X has like a 60-90 minute bat life and weights about 20-25lbs.

But, as long as you are happy with it thats all that matters.

I want the 5970 black edition (2 gig), but the 6XXX is supposed to be out soon, and the price of those will drop from $599.99.
Also might pick up another 8 gigs of DDr3 so I can have 16. just cause I can.

The 5870 I have is nice, but I want a new card before the year is out for the elder scrolls 5! 11/11/11!!!!
Also star wars the old republic, and a few others.

(edit)
I been looking at a 2TB storage drive and saving everything to my 500G, then copying it to the bigger HDD. and have a double back up of my important files, and all my steam games on the 2TB.
Might look into a SSD in 6-8 months if the price is right.

May end up another $800-$1,000 in the pc (total around $2,600) by the end of the year.

No real reason to, or need its just my passion.

If your asking me then no, mine is a 1156 socket and the sandy bridge is a 1155 socket. Small update on mine, I currently have my 875k OC to 4.0ghz, it is blazing fast and stable with core temps hovering in the 60-65C range under load. I am waiting on the gtx560 to roll on out with the rest of the manufactures, I have someone waiting to buy my gts 450 for $100 and I will be purchasing a gtx 560 probably from evga or gigabyte.

Well, you can build a better desktop than the M17x, but then you couldn't take it with you! By the way, the M17x weighs about 11 lbs, not 25 lbs, and I get a couple hours on battery. How long does your desktop run on battery before it runs dead? LOL!

I was talking fully loaded, like the $6,500 package for the M17X. It weights more and has less bat life. but why anyone would pay that much for one is beyond me.

I wasn't trying to be mean, I was just saying.
Im sure its a sweet laptop, and I would own. just not pay for it. I think AW is a bit overpriced.
But thats just me.
Im glad you are happy with it though!

Here, $6,259
