Macbook Pro overheating solution

My 17" macbook pro used to get so hot that I couldnt touch the bottom of it without getting a first degree burn. I downloaded that fan control, and now the laptop is running at 55-60 degrees C, half of what it use to be running at. Just a helpful program for who ever has this issue too. (The fan also works for PC users)

So, you feel the need to insult PC users when you author a thread explaining how to solve a widespread mac problem?

The timing of your insult leaves a little something to be desired.

Other than getting a little warm at times, my 6 yr old macbook is perfect. I couldnt say the same about my HPs, Toshibas, Dells, etc.

If you have a (nearly) perfect macbook, why do you keep buying other computers?

Also, thanks for editing out your gratuitous insult against the vast majority of people who use computers.

The other computers were ones i had before the Mac. I just couldnt stand the constant crashing and freezing up of PCs. I always did the required maintenance and virus/adware scans and I still always had issues with the big 3 PC companies.

which 3? There are at least 6 major PC manufacturer (excluding Apple). Also, 99.999% of problems with any computer is user error, also known as PEBKAC (Problem exists between keyboard and chair)

If you don't know how to use a computer, you'll probably end up screwing the one you're using up, regardless of OS.

Just buy a computer that isn't an antique, and that should solve your overheating issues.

I have a macbook pro also and mine does get a little warm, but going on three years now and haven't had a problem... I'm not pro apple anything but this just works for me... Everything else I have had always had problems. The new macbooks and macbook airs and such are so thin they probably have a problem with airflow..

A "little warm" shouldn't give you 1st degree burns

Thanks for that link Migdaddy - my MBP sometimes gets a little warm - I run it 24/7. Not so much that I've ever felt it a problem but if nothing else, this ap lets me monitor my fan performance and assures me they're functioning.

As for insulting PC users - I don't see it. Seems to me you simply offered a friendly reference to PC users who might also be suffering a heat issue. I was not aware of this ap and, as such, appreciate you're bringing it to my attention - I would think any PC user would too.

He edited his post after he got called on it.

If labelling PC users as stupid is 'friendly', than sure, it was a 'friendly' offer of a reference.

I run several OS's at home. I have a new Mac but I'm also running XP, Vista and 7. Every company has issues, no matter who they are. I do think that some, not all mac users who don't know better and switch from a pc to a mac think they can never have issues. I love when I hear people say Mac don't get viruses, lol. I love em' all and use em' all.

Mig thanks for the link

I will take a pc over a mac any day of the week! Macs are great if you like being limited in your operating environment.
