School Board Shooting

So here's a guy, hand in pocket, relaxed stance, all the time in the world, and he misses.

I do believe 'The Imaginary Friend' was too busy rolling on the floor laughing to be 'standing in front of him' at this point...

Is THIS the proficiency level of the average totin' 'Murrican Joe? If it is, you needn't worry so much to be packin' to defend yerselves from these fellers. Just walk on up and kick 'em in the nuts.

And - if this is how adept y'all are when relaxed, don't even bother to draw if yer actually under any real stress. Safer for everyone - including you - that way

'Gawd' ....

Yeah, that was my first thought when I read that a deranged gunman had shot at several people at a school board meeting....laughing that he missed.
Has this country become so inundated with violence that laughter is the proper response to a terroristic act?

But on the main idea of your post, I don't think the guy actually wanted to kill anyone. The guy pointed a gun point blank at a lady who hit him with a purse too but did not pull the trigger. I'm thinking it was suicide by cop more than him actually trying to kill someone else.

I'm with you SmokeyBear. He fire five or six shots point blank range and hit nobody, including the security guard that put him down, then he rolled on his side and shot himself in the head. He came in wishing for suicide by cop and realized he had to finish the job himself.

I know the reason of this thread was to 'stir the pot' as they say, but it's obvious that the target was being protected. To fire 5 or 6 shots at close range and miss is not easily explained away.

I do agree that the shooter was obviously suicidal before he ever walked in that meeting.

No matter if it was divine intervention or a poor marksman, it was a crazy event! Glad the only person who died was the one who needed to.

From MSN article
On a Facebook page under Duke's name, which was apparently created Dec. 7, he left a cryptic message under the "About Me" section.

"My testament: Some people (the government sponsored media) will say I was evil, a monster (V) ... no ... I was just born poor in a country where the Wealthy manipulate, use, abuse, and economically enslave 95 percent of the population. Rich Republicans, Rich Democrats ... same-same ... rich ... they take turns fleecing us ... our few dollars ... pyramiding the wealth for themselves."

Duke was charged in October 1999 with aggravated stalking, shooting or throwing a missile into a building or vehicle and obstructing justice, according to state records.

He was convicted and sentenced in January 2000 to five years in prison and was released in January 2004.

Attorney Ben Bollinger, who represented Duke during his trial, told The News Herald of Panama City that Duke was waiting in the woods for his wife with a rifle, wearing a mask and a bulletproof vest.

She confronted him and then tried to leave in a vehicle, and Duke shot the tires. He said that as part of his sentence, Duke was required to complete psychological counseling. Bollinger did not immediately return a phone message from the AP.

From the sound of it, he didn't have all of his oars in the water. As an ex felon, he should have never been allowed to have a gun of any kind. This is a system failure that we see far too often.

Impossible!!! The liberal anti-gun laws don't allow a felon to have a gun. If the law says it, a felon will listen. Everyone knows criminals obey the law!

What took the police so damned long? I was expecting SWAT to drop through the roof by about 2-3 minutes.
