Anyone that will tell you, no matter what your told there is no BEST carry gun out there. The reason being is its how the gun fits you that makes the biggest difference, my personal experience when considering this same question was like this. I knew I wanted a Semi auto, and I wanted a polymer pistol, and I knew I wanted it chambered in 40S&W. Everyone immediately started screaming get a Glock, Glock or nothing, nothing compares to a Glock, so I went and held a Glock at the local store immediately I wasn't sold on it, I just didn't like the way it felt my hand, but I shot it anyway. It was no where even close to accurate for me, not because the gun is not accurate, but because it did not fit me. So I took it back to the counter and the guy asked me what I thought, I told him it was a nice pistol but it just didn't fit me. He said hey I have this other pistol you might be interested in, he handed me a Springfield Armory xd 40 service model 4". The first thing I noticed was it just fit, I loved the feel of it, and when I brought the pistol up I was on target without having to adjust. I took it in the back and fired about 100 rounds through it, It was night and day different from the Glock, I was actually hitting what I was shooting at. I could place nice groups without having to take extreme aim, I point and squeeze and the round goes where I want it. I went back up front and bought my weapon and carried it home, I have been in love with it ever since. I love the fact that the XD has a lifetime warranty, I love that any work you have done to the weapon through Springfield, like my trigger job, is also warrantied for life, I love the fact that if I need it I have it and it will work every time.
What I am saying is don't listen to anyone tell you this gun or that gun is the best, go to a store and see what gun fits you because if you don't you will wind up with one you don't like and that you cant shoot well. Glock makes and extremely well built reliable weapon, but they aren't the only thing out there.
the best gun is the one you're comfortable with. you want something that you will shoot/clean regularly and fits your hand(s) like a glove. that way if god forbid it ever needs to be used there's not a moment of hesitation on your part.
as far as reliability is concerned glock has never let me down. i did not like the way the subcompact 27 I had felt which led to it's sale.

ask for a video of this one
Since the absurd was posted for the Glock and it's reliability, here's one for the opposite- The infamous Glock KaBoom. Take yer pick as to which one you wanna read.

Here's a couple of my toys. The blue is a factory tuned pistol for competition. Trigger is crisp and breaks at an extra light 1.5lbs. The 1911 is also a factory custom in 38 Super with factory tuned action and trigger.
I knew you couldn't do it without changing the variables. Yeah yeah, there are several people around here who can shoot targets at 100 yards offhand with a .44 mag (rifle cartridge) out of a Blackhawk. I know he's using at least a 6" barrel but more likely the 8 or 10" model.
You were comparing apples to oranges. An out of the box GLOCK to a performance tuned revolver? Pick up a handgun magazine. Semi-autos act a lot different then revolvers. "The professionals" are ecstatic with a sub 2" group from a 15 yard bench.
Oh and the Glock "Ka-boom" has been shown to have been caused by handloads that are too hot. I bet even that performance tuned (Are those 629s?) smitty would blow up if your fired overheated loads through it.

I didn't say anything about changing a thing. Just so you have a slight clue, here's the 1911 I shoot in competition along with the rimfire slide that I also shoot in competition. Since you aren't very pistol knowledgeable, the blue slide is a 45ACP and the silver slide mounted on the frame is a 22 match.

Yer too funny!

It's really hard to go wrong with a 1911. There's a reason they've been around for 100 years, and so many people and departments still use them.
I'm usually carryin' one of these two guns.

As far as concealin' goes, here's a picture of me concealin' the fullsize Kimber Custom TLE II in an IWB holster.

If I don't have one of the 1911's on me, I'll have this in my front pocket.

What professional, show some proof of that because I could use a laugh. My xd 40 will shoot 2" groups at 15 yards without a bench all day long. I regularly shoot groups tighter than that at 15 yards and I don't even consider myself a great shot.

Glock 300,000 round torture test...February 2010
As far as proving my sub 2"groups claim... Like I said, pick a copy and look at there groupings for 10, 15 and 25 yard groups. They are from a bench unless otherwise stated.
You compared a guy's grouping with a G21 semiauto .45 to your competition shooting a tuned pistol. All I asked was for you to prove it. And offered a donation in return. Nice Raptor Custom BTW.

Semi-auto pistols I usually don't embarrass myself. Revolver competition, if I can still get my hands on some Speer 146gr Half Jackets, I'll take on anybody with my factory tuned Colt Python. I've shot groups with that puppy at 25 yds that you can cover with a nickel
Aw jeez, Flea, why'd ya have to post pics? Now I gotta ask how that CDP II shoots. I've been bouncing back and forth between it and a Colt Defender. The Colt I can change out the trigger group and bushing to make it as "target" grade as I would like. It's headed to be a carry gun. I'm a big guy at 6' 4" and I can carry a 1911 full size no problems but my current carry is a 40SW Baby Eagle all steel semi compact. Love the gun but I need an alternative as a back up. So, any fail to load, fail to fire, fail to ejects. That seems to be a common problem with the smaller 1911 platforms.
^^The CDPs are beautiful. I plan on something likea Crimson carry pro for my graduation present to myself. That or the Scandium S&W in .44mag

I did have some issues with my TLE II when I first got it, and I didn't thin it was reliable at all. It sat in a drawer for a long time, 'cause I just didn't have faith in it. I decided to take it to a gunsmith, rather than send it back to Kimber. All it needed was the extractor tuned. I went ahead and had the feed ramp polished and the barrel throated also, just to make sure it would run smoothly. That's when I had the trigger set to 4 lbs too. I haven't had a single issue since then, and it's a very accurate gun. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it when it was givin' me trouble.
