I've got a Springfield XD(m) and love it. It's a little large for every day carry, so I've been thinking about an XDSC.

i use to have a cz spo1 that i loved to death, shot very well and handled excellent.. i did sell it to a buddy and ended up buying a springfield xd 40, and it is a very comfortable gun to cary and shoot with, but it is al what you feel, i didn't have a chance to shoot it before i bought it i just judged it by holding it and messing with it... my dad has a glock 9 mm, (not sure model) but i am not a big fan of them, don't like the feel or the reaction of just shooting int or feeling it... look at the xd or xdm they are good gun's though... and not to bad to carry either...

Thanks for the replies so far.Judging by what I have read so far it seems to be a real personal thing, people seem pretty loyal to a specific brand. I am concerned about the durability of the Glock I must say. I will have to make some enquiries about somewhere I can do some test shooting. I was speaking to someone the other day about this and she did not know of anywhere nearby where this could be done.

Questions about the durability of GLOCK?
Thanks for the linky. I haven't laughed that good in a while. It's hard to believe just how stupid people can get especially with a firearm. But apparently it hasn't blown up on him yet. I have found shooting with city LEOs that the groups he was shooting is about normal for a Glock. That's probably why I won't have one. His groups are more like patterns than groups at 25 and 35 FEET. I'm shooting at 25 YARDS and you can cover the groups with a quarter if I'm shooting offhand and they get far smaller from there if I'm shooting from bags. I guess accuracy is a pretty general description- more for some and far less for others.

^You know, I agree with 96% of the stuff you say labnerd. I'm gonna call BS and ask for a video of this one. .45 caliber, 25 yards off hand, 5 shots, all touching a quarter.

I wanna see it.

You do it. I'll put $25 to the charity of your choice via paypal.

That would certainly be some good shooting!

This is probably the worst advice re: buying any product.

Buy something with a good history/review, and buy something you like. Go hold and shoot some different models if you can.

Carry guns are very personnel yes. I also carry a S&W Airwieght 637. .38 spl +p, and is small and light as a feather on my ankle. You can't beat the reliability of a revolver period! That being said, my favorite carry is still the G23 in the crossbreed. It all depends on where I'm going, and what I'm doing. The key is to have atleast one of them on me at ALL times (outside of work).

And... I really love that .40 S&W too. I prefer it over the .45 acp.

I don't have any actual experience, but from what I read, Taurus doesn't have a good reputation for quality. Not sure about reliability.

You can usually judge a firearms company by how many countries use their products in their military or police forces. How many countries use Taurus products in their military or police vs some of the other manufacturers. If it is not as many, it is certainly not because they are unattainable because of their cost. That means it is probably more of a function of quality or reliabilty. Or, maybe they just don't submit their products for testing and evaluation by those countries.
