Snow Storm 2010

My hometown is North Bay, Ontario so I'm no stranger to big snow falls but this is ridiculous. I've lived in London, Ontario for 6 yrs and I've never seen it this bad. I took some pics with the cell. I've been staying at my gf's place since Monday. There was no way I was getting to my parking spot at my apartment. I got to work from home for the last two days and her office was closed for the same. She has a snowplow guy, but it took him over 24 hours to get her driveway cleared. Its a shared drive so the only place to put the snow with the plow is the front lawns, but there was so much snow that he could only clear half of it. He almost got stuck twice. He sent a crew over Wed. morning with a snowblower to clear the rest.

This is 12 hours after it was plowed clear on Sunday night.

This is about 24 hours after it was plowed on Sunday night. Not sure what the garbage truck was hoping to find, unless he was on a treasure hunt.

This is the back deck at my gf's place. The big lump on the left is the BBQ under a tarp.

This is the backdeck and her garage Tuesday morning. The deck rails are 4' high.

This is her cat's eye view out the patio doors.

The garbage truck was prolly on its way to the maintenance yard to get a plow hung on it.

That's just wrong.
I'm in Kingston and we got 3 inches on Sunday night, I was very upset

You and Bucky can keep all the big dumps of the year, I'm perfectly happy with that, lol

North Bay eh? I remember my band playing at Cortina's in Jan of 1988 and it was the worst cold I've ever exprienced in my life (and I lived in Baffin Island for a year too)

Nice! I love seeing the snow pics, can't wait till we get some decent snow this year. We had record snow fall last winter here in the Mid-Atlantic. Call me crazy, but I love the the stuff. If it's gonna be cold, might as well snow.

Good choice on getting snowed in with the GF, too.

I can't wait for snow either. It's sooo cold today but not a snow cloud in the sky!

I would love to see that. But don't get it here in California. I guess I have to drive to Tahoe.

Yeah, 24 degrees and SUNNY when I left for work this morning! Storm coming our way Sunday, but I think it's going to be mostly rain, sleet mixed with some snow. Even still, we're getting something even earlier than last year. I think our first big snow last year came on December 18-19? I know it was the first white Christmas I've seen in a while.

Yeah it's supposed to warm up a little this weekend, so I'm sure it will be rain, maybe sleet (which I think is worse to drive in). But then it's back to really cold temps next week. I have a feeling though that this is going to be a white winter.

that reminds me of when I was a kid in Red Rock (near Thunder Bay, Ontario). Man, we used to get some serious snow. The snow banks beside the road from plowing would get over eight feet and were used as Skidoo trails as more people used them than cars. When we moved to the Okanagan Valley in BC. in 1971 we were told by the new neighbors to get rid of our big snow floats and stuff because it would snow one day and be gone the next. That was the winter it snowed 3 feet that stayed all season...

regards

Those pictures just make me miss snow -- it's hard being a displaced Minnesotan this time of year! Every fiber in my body tells me that I'm supposed to be out in the garage getting my snowmobile tuned up and ready to go, but then I step outside and it's 74-degrees......
