Nice jeep but I'm confused. From the plate I assume it's overseas, correct? Are you shipping that thing home or what's the deal?

My sister drives a Cherokee with the same body style but I'm not sure about what year model. I hope you like working on brakes. The brake system is too small for the heft of the vehicle and rotors don't last long. The rear brake lights have a chip in them so if a bulb doesn't fix the problem, you'll have to buy new lens- at the dealer, a little under $400.00 each. These vehicles are also known for major electrical gremlins so if you don't have any..... Hers has about 80,000 on it and it's been a fairly decent ride so far but lately it's been nothing but repair after repair. Hope you do better with yers but I'd skip the big tires until you upgrade the brake system.

^^^ yea my girlfriend has had a couple grand cherokees now and swears by them. Seems like once they start getting upwards of 80K there's a lot of repairs like labnerd said. Electrical issues, throttle body, transfer case went on her last one. From what I hear they're common issues

My wife is still mad I sold my 2006 Grand Cherokee Limited. That 4.7 HO is a good engine too.

What transfer case does it have? IE, what 4x4 positions are there?

Great great vehicle, not so great platform for starting a 4x4 unless you are going hardcore with it. Unibodys pretty much suck when it comes to changing from anything stock as far as drivetrain goes.

If you plan on switching axles first thing I would do is make a frame for it and plate the whole unibody. Probably want another transfer case on it also, my guess is it has the famous Grand Cherokee 4 Wheel All The Time, which doesn't work to swell for any off-roading purposes.

I ahve a friend who bought a new model over a year ago, it has refused to start several times & has to be taken to a dealer on a flatbed. I have another friend who has one & says its tinny compared to her ford expedition. Personally I think I would part company with it when u return.

hes putting dana 60s under it so the brakes are going to get bigger, i think one ton brakes should do.

Nope, I'm fairly sure all Cherokees / Grand Cherokees have unibody. This is their downfall. In my opinion they are one of the badest looking off-road platforms.

I do a lot of extreme wheeling and actually owend a 94 model. Being in college though I couldn't afford to beef it up just to be able to start doing what I wanted to it. I have a D60 rear and 44 front that was going to go under it. I was going to cut the heck out of it and put it on 37"s but its stance would have only gained 4-6" over stock stance with the much larger tires. Like I said I just couldn't afford to do what I wanted so I sold it.
