Are your guys' lines as bad as ours are here in Washington? State closed about 3/4 of the DMV offices to save money last year or the year before. From the horror stories of my colleagues the average wait time is around 2 hrs for a renewal license; and that's at 0900 in the morning when they open the doors. I'm dreading going in February to finally get mine before it expires.
Wow. I went at about 9:30am and walked right up to the counter. I was the only one there at the time. As soon as I started being helped a couple people walked in but it wasn't bad. I have been to the same location before and had to wait almost 1/2 an hour to renew plates. Just my lucky day I guess, I don't know. Now I just renew my plates online and they mail out the registration in order to skip the wait and not waste time.

I don't get charged a fee for online renewals, that I know of. The price is listed as being the same no matter how I renew, being in person, online or through the mail. The renewal notice I receive in the mail a couple months prior to expiration is how I figured that out.
