Racists...

Apparently republicans are so racist, they elected blacks, hispanics, and even an Indian for good measure...

It certainly feels that way-

Slipping in a few tokens, to make it seem better.

I think the words "democrat" and "liberal" are pretty much the new "N" word. Just listen to any of these V or radio shows- the vibe is unmistakable.

I admit, the dems don't do everything right, but 2000 - 2008 proves the pubs don't know what they're doing either. How anyone expected anyone to fix 8 yars of BS in 18 months, is proof for the need for random drug screening.

Not really.

I didn't believe he could do any of what he said, actually... Not as long as we have a House and Senate. Even with Democrats having control of both, the changes couldn't get done. Positive change definitely won't happen with a Republican majority in the house.

What's funny to me is, if you listen to most of the crap spewed during the campaigns, about "taking back our country". WTF was that supposed to mean? Did the country get lost? Did things just get bad when Obama took office, or was it getting worse every day since 9/11/2001?

Until someone does something (tax breaks, incentives) to the fortune 500 companies, American jobs will continue to flow over seas, allowing the American dream to be lived by other people, as opposed to 'Mericans. Whether you are Republican or Democrat, it doesn't really matter if you don't have a job. Getting jobs in America and Keeping jobs in America needs to be Job 1. This outsourcing crap has been in full swing since 2001- it just took 8 years for most people to see/feel the result.

Outsourcing has been a monster since NAFTA (1994). Your blaming of the Republicans exclusively is misplaced.

Obama is nothing but a socialist in "progressive" nicey-nice clothing. He pretty much admits it in his books. Thinking Americans saw through him from the beginning. It is truly sad that so many were deceived by him. The Republicans cannot pass anything through Congress without the Democrats and vice-versa. Gridlock in DC can actually be a good thing.

Fixed that part for you.

This election had nothing to do about race and everything to do with outrage at Washington DC and the group up there calling the shots. It had nothing to do with race, of the three figure heads for the current DNC (Obama, Reid and Pelosi) two are white. Here in Arkansas a Republican won the first district for the first time since the 1870s! Same goes for the Land Commissioner. In this election year to have (D) after your name was a death sentence. In the elections where the Republicans did not field a candidate the Green part was picking up 30% of the votes. Most people around here have no clue what the Green party stands for. They were voting for anybody but a Democrat. If the DNC doesn't realize that, 2012 will be even uglier than yesterday.

I personally think we are in a much better spot now. One party has a solid majority the House, the Senate is split in half and the President is opposite the House. They will have to work together to do anything. This will put a stop to th 2700 page bills getting passed overnight and some of the rampant pork spending. What's the worst that could happen, nothing gets passed at all? We have a whole bunch of laws already, let's give them a chance to work before we make new ones.

And it continues on, even after they get a majority in the house.

To clarify, I don't blame Republicans for the outsourcing. I was in the Army in 1994, so I didn't witness or pay attention to the impact of NAFTA. However, in 2001 I saw the shift, and how it picked up momentem after the Y2K bust, and the dot.com flop, then shifted into high gear after 9/11.

As for President Obama- I'm not mad with him. I wouldn't have been mad if it had been McCain either. Whoever would have had to fill Bush's shoes inherited this economic ***** sandwich, he didn't make it. Obama had to try something- the direction we were headed wasn't working either. When you're lost, at some point you have to ask for directions. Top economists (who weren't on CNN or Fox News) thought the changes attempted could turn us around- it hasn't- but it has slowed our decent to the bottom of the barrell.

It's the shift of jobs to overseas by big business to cut labor costs, increase revenue, and provide return on investment to the shareholders- at the cost of American jobs. It's not a Democrat problem, it's not a Republican problem, it's a problem that has either impacted us directly, or someone we know, and it's not going to stop until someone makes it easier for big business to do business in America- with American employees. Clinton enacted tax breaks in the 90's for company's that created jobs in the US, and in 1999- there were more jobs than there were qualified candidates.

Today, unemployment is nearly 10%, and higher in rural and less affluent areas.

Until people can work, the power shift will continue to swing from Republican to Democrat, as people blame the political parties for their problems (and at some level there may be truth to some of it). But, what's at the core for most Americans is how will this impact me?

It's not a Democrat problem, it's not a Republican problem, it's an American problem. Neither party has shown an ability to fix any of this (post-Clinton). So, who-we-gonna-call?

Well Hersh, it only took 2 years for this country to get the message that it was definitely headed for a train wreck with the people that were in charge. Do you suppose that if Obama had 8 years (God forbid!) he'd still be blaming the Republicans and Bush for the mess. I believe he would! What happened with Hope and Change? Been plenty of change, which has left us with no hope! This has NOTHING to do with color! There are plenty of colored who would make great leaders in this country and I would vote for them, but they're not "Redistribute the wealth" people so the lazy a** entitlement people (their own color) will call them "Uncle Tom's" instead of voting for 'em. I contributed to Lt. Col. West's campaign and am proud that he made it. This country needs more like him and less like Obama and it may head back in the right direction.

There are a couple of coloreds I can think of that are great politicians such as Alan Keyes and Clarence Thomas. We need more like them!

I don't think that anyone did expect Obama to fix "8 years of BS" in 18 months. The thing is, if you are going to try to "fix" a country in a fragile state, you probably shouldn't do it with a baseball bat.

Our country was divided during thoes "8 years of BS". Obama fed us some lofty rhetoric about hope and change but when in office drove a wedge between the left and right turning the divide into a colossal fracture.
