Anyone in the US Coast Guard?
Take the ASVAB, SAT (which I never took in HS) all the supplemental tests after I send in my application, PFE, DoDMERB...and thats all I can think of. If im missing something please do share!
cool deal man! flying in the helo is pretty awesome! got to do it once! just gotta pass that flight physical!
Haven't spoken to any recruiters yet. Will be soon hopefully. Here is the information I have taken from gocoastguard.com
Blue 21
Qualify for the BLUE 21 Flight Initiative, and you'll get the opportunity to become a Coast Guard aviator through the completion of Officer Candidate School, with a guarantee of an assignment to flight training.
Upon completion of OCS, you will receive a commission as an ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and be assigned immediately to flight training in Pensacola, Fla. After earning your "Wings of Gold," you will be assigned to an air station and begin your career as a Coast Guard aviator.
The only thing is once your in its an obligated 11 years of flying. Which is totally fine with me, just not sure how moving around constantly would work out for me.

I would love to be a BM. Its been a dream of mine for many years. I have had many jobs and currently enjoy my job but I would love to ditch the suit and tie and be out on the water. I think I'm going to talk to a recruiter again.
back in 05 I signed up for the USCGA passed the physical ability portion with flying colors but my SAT's were just below the line. i am in the process of hoefully becoming a park ranger for either the state of CA, National Parks, or Orange County parks. I have a BS degree in recreation with a certificate in outdoor recreation management. If those fall thru i will likely sign up for the Coast Guard where i would love to be a BM. and move up to coxswain.
SK1 (E6) here. Been in 9 years, on my 4th duty station. Sorry to tell ya, but unless you take the enlisted to OCS route, becoming a BM is out of the question. If you do take that route, you'll only be a BM until you graduate OCS, after which you'll become an officer and direct others to drive the boat.
Not sure how much research you've done yet, but it might help to check out this link:

Make sure you know what you're getting into before you raise your hand. It's usually fairly easy to get in, but a little tougher to get out. I love my job and there's nothing else I'd rather be doing with my life.
Side note.....Being a BM is not all about driving fast and catching bad guys.......someone's got to paint the boat and scrape barnacles off buoys.
