Socialism and Communism are monetary philosophies much like Capitalism. They are separate from political/ruling principles.

Yes many Communist nations are ran by dictatorships but that is not a necessity to exist.

I certainly am not advocating going away from Capitalism. But it doesn't have to be an outright free for all. It certainly needs to be checked by regulation.

I encourage everyone to watch a show on CNBC called American Greed. You will see heinous attempts by people to steal from others. These people are usually caught by regulators and if you take them out of the picture who knows if they would ever be caught.

"American Greed" shows the after effects of when the Fed creates the moral hazard. Cheap money (by the Fed) coupled with Clinton legalizing derivatives in 2000 created bubbles.

I've tried to stay out of this fray until now, but I can no longer stand the disinformation by K-Mac any longer.

K-Mac, I suggest you read a book called "Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. This book will FULLY open your eyes to just how close liberalism today is to the fascism of Benito Mussolini and the National Socialism of Adolf Hitler, such as:

- Adolf Hitler's National Socialists believed in FREE HEALTH CARE for all. Obamacare, anyone?
- ***** also confiscated inherited wealth. Sounds like the Obama Tax Plan in a nutshell.
- ***** inserted the authority of the state in every nook and cranny of daily life.
- ***** also declared war on smoking, supported abortion, euthanasia, and gun control. The liberal platform in a nutshell.
- ***** loathed the free market. Just like liberals do today.
- ***** provided generous pensions for the elderly.
- The ***** led the world in organic farming and alternative medicine.
- Hitler was a strict vegetarian, and Himmler was an animal rights activist.

Here is some highlights from a program by the Fasci di Combattimento, created by Benito Mussolini in 1919:

- A large progressive tax on capital that would amount to a one time partial expropriation of all riches (confiscation of wealth for the government to spend, just like Obama plans to do).
- The nationalization of all arms and explosives industries (government ownership).
- The abolition of the Senate and the creation of a national technical council on intellectual and manual labor, industry, commerce, and culture (government control of labor, industry, commerce, and culture. Sounds like Obamaism).

FDR's New Deal and LBJ's Great Society are REMARKABLY similar to Adolf Hitler's and Benito Mussolini's social policies. Not to mention Hillary Clinton's view of what government should do is EXTREMELY similar to both Hitler's National Socialism and Mussolini's Fascism.

If I were you, K-Mac, I would read this book from cover to cover. It also has some startling revelations about Woodrow Wilson, the first progressive democrat, and how his administration was EXTREMELY SIMILAR to Hitler's and Mussolini's (In fact, Hitler modelled Germany's social policies after Wilson's social policies). Just Google the following things from the Wilson Administration:

- War Industries Board. It was called by someone on the board "An industrial dictatorship without parallel, a dictatorship by force".
- Committee on Public Information. A government run propoganda machine.
- Espionage Act of 1917.
- Sedition Act of 1918.
- Palmer Raids.

I'll also add to this that the Wilson administration believed in and practiced the following:
- Censorship of the press (Violating the First Ammendment).
- Price fixing and rationing (socilsitic control of the economy?)
- Crackdown on individual civil liberties.

NOW I know why the liberals and progressives don't want to mention this president, the first "progressive democrat" president, and why they hide mention of his domestic policies: It would show just how close progressives TRULY ARE to FASCISM and SOCIALISM !!!!

I remember a great history teacher tell me this, "In Italy they were called Fascists. In Germany they were called National Socialists (*****). In America, we call them either progressives or liberals".

Perhaps, K-Mac, you need a refresher course in United States history taught by someone who doesn't "revise" history to fit a "politically correct" belief.

Not that owning an F-150 is a requirement for coming to this site. But yeah, still have the L and besides the 2" rear drop, it still looks the same as it did when I bought it over 9 years ago.

The GM employees, the suppliers, the mom and pop shops all around the gm plants, the mortgages that would be defaulted on, the city tax base that goes down. What do think would happen to Ford if China came in, got all the engineering, tooling to make cars and trucks in China?

Short term Ford might pick up 1/2 the sales (best case) Toyota would pick up a lot and send the cash back to Japan, then 3 to 4 years from now China would come in and bury both Ford and Toyota.

Did you know that when some large companies close down a plant they will actually destroy all the machines simply to keep competitors from getting them. A short sided company might sell for 10 cent on the dollar to raise a little cash, a smart companies see that long term this would give up what they have left and cause harm in the future

If you had an album then you should have it now. Must have gotten lost in the recent album transfer as quite a few were 'misplaced' somehow. Have you spoken to an administrator or moderator about your old album?

 

I got to test the new F-150s today. Very nice. Everything the same pretty much as my 2010, except the powertrains and the info center in the gauge cluster. I have never driven the new RAM or the new Chevy Silverado. I can say the Chevy is a POS in pretty much every way in comparison to the RAM or F-150. The RAM would be my second choice. However, all the F-150s were superior.

 

I am glad someone else here gets it. I agree that subsidizing failed businesses sucks and propping them up in the short term seems wrong. However, given the options, I would rather support an American company that may find its footing that push our jobs off the cliff.

The proof will be in the pudding long term. If GM and Chrysler prove successful then the bailout will be worth it. If they still falter then I guess it was good money spent after bad.

The tax rate today is lower than under Reagan. The GOP hails Reagan as a hero but he ran up a debt that was record for his time. Bush Sr. came along and ran more debt up after Reagan. I don't know how you can consider Reagan or the Bush presidency to be conservative by any means.

I am not for handouts. I don't think that you need to subsidize people for an infinite amount of time. However, I do support the health care initiative. The costs are spiraling out of control and every year my insurance rates go up and the coverage goes down.

We pay for those without insurance anyway (when they use the emergency room and don't pay) so why not get those people to clinics and regular doctors offices instead of using the most expensive treatment option? BTW, Reagan enacted the law that forced hospitals to accept patients in the ER regardless of their ability to pay!

The lazy people that don't want to work are already getting covered under Medicaid. The ones that are going uninsured are the ones that go to work and don't have benefits because they make too much money ($10/hr or less) but they are penalized because they want to do the right thing and get off their butts and go to work.
