Tea Party movement

It is starting to look like Obama has a second chance in the Presidential race. The GOP vote is being split by the Tea Party.
Hopefully the GOP will embrace the Tea Party , and adopt its Platform, before our Country goes down the tubes.
This is Democracy in action.

I hope the Republican party can re-establish itself as a conservative party. Any RINO needs to be identified as a demoturd.

Maybe what we'll have is the tea-party as the right wing, the Republicans as the center, and demofarts as the left. I just hope this conservative/tea party movement grows and gains momentum. It's time for some restraint, control, and responsability.

Signed,
-active Tea Party member.

I think what makes this interesting is this is how the GOP came to power. The original republican party morphed into the present day democrats. The party that the republicans came from (I think it was the Whigs, but I'm not sure) no longer represented the base of the group and the democrats didn't really represent those people either. The end result a faction group formed off the predecessor party of the republicans and the republican party was born. Their first president was Lincoln. Since then the government has grown out of control to the point where we are forced to vote for bad or worse. The Tea Party, if they can continue their momentum, will replace the Republican party. I don't think it will happen. I think the GOP will wake up and start moving back toward their conservative base and the Tea Party will die out.

Something else I find interesting is that if you go back 30 years, the current Republican party is where the Democrats were back then. Many right wing wackos are nothing more than 80's Reagan republicans.

Maybe America will get lucky and realize how incompetent both the Dems and Reps are and vote Libertarian. We could finally get out of this 2-party system rut.

Our form of Government would not work without two or more parties of ideals . If we only had one party there would be no checks and balances at all

We are getting out of the 2-party system thanks to the Tea Party. If their core economic policies are enacted in time, it will be much easier for Americans that work Monday-Friday to be prosperous again.

The Tea Party isn't a party at all. There isn't a platform per se. This is a movement of people, generally conservative people at this point, who are demanding accurate representation. This is my take of it as someone who would be considered a part of the movement.

The Tea Party isn't splitting anything. Conservatives were criticized for years about towing the republican party line. Voting along party lines. Well, isn't that what the democrats are doing? Isn't that what they are telling conservatives to do?

We complain about having to choose the lesser of the evils. Now conservatives are being criticized because we are choosing people who we belive will follow the principals that our government was founded on and be more accurate in representing The People, rather than vote for establishement candidates who commentators tell us can beat the democrat.

I don't know if this stragity is going to work. The odds are 50/50 as I see it. But if a sure bet means electing more of the same establishment types, but with an (R) next to their name, I'd rather risk it.

It's amusing how for years people like me, and some others here, were criticized for alegedly falling in line with republicans. Now we are being criticized for not falling in line. So which is it?

I was, as a younger man, in favor of more than two parties. I've concluded that it's not likely to work. I believe that the best way to be accurately represented is to elect people who will do that. I personally don't care which party they come from. I would vote for a conservative democrat over a liberal republican. I will when the scenerio presents it's self to me.

This may provide Obama a second term. You can't lay the blame on a movement. No, it's inaction that will provide Obama with a second term. Just turning the letter from (D) to (R) isn't going to solve a thing. The election of Obama is proof of that. It's time that we looked a little closer at the person next to that letter before we pull the lever for them at the ballot box.

As a so called "member" of the Tea Party I can tell you it's not a party at all. It's just more and more people getting up off the couch and finally doing something beyond yelling at the TV News. It's people doing what they are supposed to be doing, taking an active roll in their government. It's strange that we would be criticized for doing that.

I don't understand. These people are gaining more votes than the rino's. Plus its only one republican running against 1 democrat, so obviously, if someone is identified as a republican, they're going to vote for the republican, regardless of whether they are a rino or a tea partyer.

I think this is a great movement though. The status quo is in dire need of change, and this movement may open the eyes of many people to see that they don't like what is going on.

I encourage the Tea Baggies to go at it!!! With some luck, the strife in the GOP will bring it down and make people wake up.

I hear..."I want less government, less regulation!"

What do you want less regulated? Your food supply? Deregulation has led to salmonella outbreaks in eggs. The oil companies? The price of gasoline has tripled in 10 years. The environment is getting beat up. Wall St? Their crookedness led us to the great recession.

Uncontrolled regulation just to make government bigger is stupid. Unfortunately we have to have it to check those that try to cheat the system. Regulation that is done intelligently and effectively is smart. We need to find that again.

I hear the free market will fix all...ok then lets get rid of the police and courts. Let people handle everything. Guess what? You would have crime skyrocketing, people murdered in the streets at a rate that makes today's gang stuff look like nothing and we would all suffer.

Regulations were put in place because some occurrence happened that uncovered a need. Are they sometimes knee jerk and over done? Yes but it can get out of hand.

I hear they want to cut government but where? Powers to the states? Many of the states governments are useless (Illinois). We have had our last two governors convicted of felonies (1 Dem 1 Rep). I don't think so.

Our spending needs reigned in, no question about it. However, it needs to be done rationally. Cutting Medicare and Social Security is idiotic. People need those safety nets. What would have happened to the value of the SS trust fund if it had been privatized under Bush before the recession hit and the market crashed? It would be like most people's 401k plans in the toilet.

Let's bring in some spending on defense. We spend more than the next 9 countries combined in defense spending. Much on things the military doesn't even want. Can we say pork barrel??

Let's cut the tax incentives out there to send our jobs overseas?

Let's cut the tax loopholes for big oil? They are the most profitable companies out there. Anyone think Exxon-Mobil or Conoco Phillips are hurting?

Employers know they have to spend money to make it. They aren't going to forgo profits to save taxes. That is stupid. They want to be efficient so no they won't just hire people to sit on their butts.

As far as having more parties in the mix. Sure...it would be a good thing. Right now we have too many people only there to vote their party instead of their constituents best interest.

K-mac is probably one of the smartest people in this place, but most people are too dense to realize it.

Lol.

For K-Mac: Redux, Phen-Phen, Vioxx, Aspartame, the list goes on and on. The FDA and other gov't agencies give the stamp of approval to drugs, foods, etc. that are harmful to the health of Americans. In fact, many of the drugs, food additives, pesticides that are used here are banned in places like Europe. Why is that? Because the gov't agencies are commanded by politicians that are corrupt and accept money from companies pushing these things.

Regulation has to be by honest people. News flash: Not gonna happen. Especially with Chicago-stlye politicans in office.
