Don't worship the earth and earthly things, or think that man extraordinary abilities or powers. We are simply nothing without Jesus living within us.
Why should we not respect or worship the earth itself? From the earth we have life. Step out into the country and open your eye's.

OR does JESUS pull the fuel from the ground and run you car and heat your home? Does JESUS put the food from the farmland on your plate?

This is exactly my point. Sheer ignorance. And no two ways about it in your mind. You put me and everyone else down because we don't believe in YOUR skewed views of this life and of this earth, you proved my point wonderfully.

I will, gladly, any day and every day live for this earth and not your god.

So, in your view, A good-standing citizen, hard working man who supports himself, his land, his family and above all finds time to lend a hand to others is doomed to your hell because I don't believe in your god.

You have a hitler living in the sky above you, enjoy your stay on this earth, or maybe you should call it a Death Camp.

I'm curious, what's wayyyyy out there about any of what you just stated? Women/men are supposed to dress modestly, not showing themselves off for everyone to see. Giving to the church, well, lets just say that is their duty and God doesn't magically make the light bill at church just disappear. As far as TV, sometimes just the beer commercials can make a grown man/woman blush. Modern TV is in the sewer and I truly feel sorry for someone with children trying to raise them right. TV is a huge factor in the teenage pregnancy/STD epidemic in this country which not only ruins lives but puts a huge strain on us taxpayers.

That was awesome, too bad it will fall on deaf ears, but still nice to read.

Seems there is a strong correlation between the Christian right and Republican's/Conservatives.

Did you know that Jesus was a "Socialist"?
Oh darn, there's that awful word. You guys love saving that word for Obama and the left, but it's true, Jesus Christ was a socialist 100%.

Luke 18:18-25

A certain ruler asked him, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ 19Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. 20You know the commandments: “You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honour your father and mother.” ’ 21He replied, ‘I have kept all these since my youth.’ 22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ‘There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money* to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.’ 23But when he heard this, he became sad; for he was very rich. 24Jesus looked at him and said, ‘How hard it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God! 25Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God

"Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor"

There it is, the words of Jesus Christ himself, yet when it comes to the right, they have the biggest opposition to the social programs that have anything to do with wanting to help their fellow man, yet this is the group that makes up most of the Christians. Kind of cool aint it?

As soon as anyone wants to have any government program that helps anyone but the rich, you guys are screaming bloody murder and calling Obama a commy and accusing him of being a socialist. Don't even try to deny it because this board is littered with hundreds of threads proving my point.

You religious guys are some of the biggest hippocrates around.

Oh I know Frank will come in and say how I am twisting the words of the bible, and Jesus didn't really mean that blah blah blah, and what he really meant was for "other people" to sell their stuff and help the poor, lol

I get it, parabals and fig leaves and yada yada yada.

Yeah very funny, that's why when you go ice fishing with Chad and Ramone, you guys are stuck in a teeny weeny little ice shack all week-end, but the truth is you never actually take any fishing rods with you?

Oh sure, there's all kinds of alcoholic refreshments and a boombox to set the mood, and probably a queen size air mattress, but there's no fishing taking place is there? fess up.

Yeah, that's what I thought

In the words of Ronald Reagan, "there you go again" Habs.

IF you ever get out of taking things out of context, you will understand that Christ was talking about selling everything you have and following Him. As in helping to spread the Gospel. But the rich man could not or would not do that since he was worldly.

just my $.02, but I've always found that arguing religion gets no where and it just makes both sides hate each other more...

while I am Christian, I do not hate on people because they are Muslim, Jewish, or whatever. I actually like to discuss this with them and find out about their religion and maybe interject some of mine along the way. The old saying "you attract more bees with honey than you do with vinegar" would be pretty applicable.

I wouldn't call this arguing, it's a discussion. I respect Habs and his opinion matters even though he stays torqued-up. He's still a human being and no one is a lost cause until they breathe their last.

That's such an easy one to comprehend too. They teach that one in Sunday school class to elementary school aged children, and they understand.
