LOL!! The last time me and the wife went to Lowe's, I stopped and looked at it again, then got a pop in the back of the head.

I was looking at used Snap On's on Craigslist and found one that was from the 70's for $100 if I remember correctly. Said the only thing wrong with it was one drawer kind of stuck.

A normal person weather a pro or a novice would have to be out of their mind to pay 8-15K fro a dam tool box. Unless that person is a millionaire!!.
A 500-1000 dollar tool box is all that i would ever pay all your doing is storing tools and if you need something that expensive just put in a bank vault it would be cheaper

No wonder machanics charge so dam much!! 15k for a tool box...

This reminds me of when I worked for Menards back in the mid-80's. Old man Menard was getting heavy into the racing scene by then, and me and some guys from our store won the chance to go to a race. Down in the pits, all the crews had these awesome tool sets with professional-grade cabinets, and then over at the Menard pit they had all their tools stuffed into these rattle-trap boxes that they sold at their retail stores.......

The untold story of the $15k toolbox is the tax write offs they receive. They write off the initial purchase price and then they write off the depreciation for the next 5 years.

Plus they are true quality and will last forever so your other investments (aka tools) are protected.

Theirs no dout a snapon box will last a life time , but you can invest up to 20k into a box with no tools. Most guys also buy boxes on snapon credit and pay over 20% interests so any ganes are lost

BINGO!!! winner right there, you said it... My friend is a snap on salesman with his own 150 k truck and he has been doing it for 20 years +. he is always chasing down these guys and one time when i was with him we stopped at a gas station/repair shop and i waited in the truck and when he went in 3 of the mechanics were hopping out the window in the back of the shop running like hot canadians!!!. He said he was owed over 50k my his customers. His mark up is insane also but he does not get half of what he should. like i said the snap on boxes are great but way over priced... I could take that 15K and invest it and make money on it or even a CD would be a better investment. But if you guys want a box or some tools PM me and i'll get you a great deal on pricing.......

At work they are in the process of buying us all new "UltraPro" tool boxes from Napa. They are the professional series with roller bearing drawers. Nice wide and deep boxes. We carry alot of weight in them so we put them on heavy duty push carts instead of using the wheels that come with them. The main thing I look for in a tool box is the roller drawers. My old one doesn't have it and I had a drawer wear through the slides. Hopefully they hold up well.

I love Snap-On boxes, but they are very pricey. Personally I don't look at the box itself as important as what's in it. The box just keeps it together. If you work on the road, a top quality box would be more important, but if it just gets rolled around a shop no need to spend the big bucks, IMO.
