Anybody besides me having issues with Firefox? It's all but worthless on this forum as it won't let you go back. I've also had problems with it crashing. Today I tried to uninstall it and it wouldn't so I just got in an gutted the freaking thing and got rid of it thru Windows Explorer. I'm on Googles Chrome now. It's different but at least I didn't lose my bookmarks. Chrome is quicker and once I get accustomed to it I'm sure I'll like it.

FWIW, has anybody had issues with AVG? I unloaded it the other day as it was piling up TONS of log files- nearly a Meg a day. I'm using Avira now and so far so good but it takes a little learning curve to set it up.

Longtime Firefox user here and have had zero issues. It did start closing randomly one week...just updated it to the newest version and all was good. I love the add-blockers and other applications. I guess you got unlucky...

i'd be surprised if that was a firefox issue - it's all i use on this forum, without any problems.
re AVG, i believe log files are user settings for almost any software. I'd be surprised if you couldn't decide whether to keep them and for how long and what the size limits should be.
there's a new replacement based on firefox called blue moon or something like that i'm trying out now.

I have a faster experience using Firefox with this site and many others when Adblock plus is enabled with a filter subscription called EasyList. You can custom tailor Adblock, but EasyList is an all-in-one subscription that works fairly well.

I've had a couple issues with it freezing up the last couple days. Just had to restart me computer for that exact reason. But normally no issues and I like it.

I have the same issue with not being able to go back in Firefox. Actually, I can go back but have to hit the back button twice.

It doesn't do that after I log in though. The back button works fine while logged in.

I have occasional freezes, etc, but generally works well. I have used firefox exclusively for over three years and allow the updates when suggested.

No issues here with FF/Vista. I've used AVIRA for about 10 years. No problems until a couple days ago. Avira caught a low - minimal threat after closing out Firefox. Avira asked me what I wanted to do, - deny, delete or quarantine the problem. Well, I tried them all and the problem would just reappear with Avira asking once again , what do you want to do ?

I had to log off/ reboot completely before it went away.

I ran CCleaner for all browsers, then full system scan w/Avira after. Must have got it, nothing turned up and no problems since.

For Avira to keep coming back repeatedly like that is unusual. So something was going on. I run Firefox most of the time.

Yeah, I was having problems with it freezing up and when I'd get off of the net and try to get back on it say it was already running and I'd have to close it or reboot. The reboots just got outa hand. I always manually update everything on the ol' PC at least twice a week. I don't let anything auto update. According to our Admin, that's how a lot of viruses get on the hard drive anyway. Adobe is one he just has fits about. None of our equipment has the Adobe Updater and he's now working to make Foxit work so we can completely eliminate Adobe. We don't initiate any pdf files, we just read them. Our fax converts any files we need to send as pdf. Works in our environment anyway.

So far the only thing I don't like about Chrome is that it keeps and generates so many tmp files like Explorer. Crap Cleaner doesn't get rid of all them either. You have to go into Chrome and delete them. I like running a clean PC.

I think you mean "porno mode". I won't use anything BUT Firefox. No issues whatsoever. No problem going "back", pages load quickly, it remembers my passwords and protects that feature with a master password. It warns me if any site attempts to install anything. Blocks all ads. Does many other things too, through all the many add-ons. No point in listing them all though.

That bit about Firefox already running was resolved a few versions back - I think it's important to allow Firefox to keep itself updated.

I'm very happy with Opera. It's been my primary browser for years.
