Home of the blues, birthplace of rock'n'roll

Firefighters' Museum

Got eat up by bugs taking this picture, it was in Yukon, OK, they had a huge grain silo on the side of the road that said "Home of Garth Brooks". I turned to my ol' lady and said "I never knew Garth Brooks lived in a grain silo!" She didn't think it was funny at all.

Welcome to Texas, where at least you know you're in Ford country.

Largest cross in the hemisphere. Of course it's in Texas.

Leaving New Mexico

That's 66 to the right of I-40, speed limit is 55 on 66 and it is 2 lanes, so we opted for the 75mph on 40.

This is where they lie and said that Billy the Kid was killed and is buried.

Very cool...I have always wanted to take an American road trip. I remember seeing a show on HD Theater called "Mustangs Across America" where a big Mustang club (may have been MCA) took a big road trip across America and I thought it would just be a blast. And now that they're making mustangs that get 31 mpg, I may just be able to do that one day Wouldn't be able to afford it in my truck that's for sure

Yes it is, every time I saw something that was great or awe-inspiring, I felt proud to be an American. We take it for granted a lot, but it really is an amazing country.

I saw that show, it was great. I don't have a Mustang, but want one pretty bad, thinking of trying to trade the Grand Prix in on one. If you have the chance to drive across the country, take water if you're going through anyplace hot (for your radiator just in case and for you if it gets really hairy) and take plenty of time and enjoy the whole trip. It was definitely an experience, and we didn't even see the midwest or the northern states, that's next on the agenda.
