emergency military spending bill passed

the emergency military spending bill was passed last night. that is great as our guys need the funding.

but why does that bill include 2.9 BILLION in aid for haiti? not million but BILLION! they have yet to extend unemployment benefits for our own people that cant find jobs, but 2.9 BILLION to haiti?

there is also several hundred million for oil cleanup. what happened to bp paying for all of it?

this is outrageous

It includes all that other crap because you have life-long politicians throwing BS additions on to bills like these. Vote the Pink Slip Party this fall!! Everyone who's in right now, get's voted out!

I find that somewhat bothersome...right up there with root canals and major surgery without anesthesia. We have too many problems at home, including excessive government spending, to deal with.

I would like to see a law that says that if an attachment to a bill isn't related to that particular bill then that attachment is null and void!

It's called a line item veto.

BP is still paying for the clean up. The reason the money has to be appropriated in the government budget is the government can't spend anything unless it is appropriated. They have to spend money to get the equipment on scene and conduct operations. They do have limited ability to move equipment and conduct operations under emergency funds, but once those are exhausted then everything stops. So in this case a bill for the money spent by the government will go to BP for a reimbursement.

And just because money is appropriated does not mean it is going to be spent, only that it is available for spending.

and because they classified it as an emergency it does not have to be funded. it goes right on the defecit. i have a problem with haiti aid increasing the defecit.

cut the aid to all the countries around the world. they all hate us anyway. they all vote against us in the UN.
