Marine OCS?
I have done alot of research about it, and talked to my uncle quite a bit about it.. what questions do you have? He went through it back in 85'. I was considering it but I hated going through college classes no knowing what I wanted to do so after going to school for two years I just enlisted and now leave for Parris Island August 23rd.
I'm planning on going into OCS after I finish college. I figured that being an officer in the Marine Corps. would help me getting a job for the FBI. So far I know that they will pick up the tab on the rest of my college tuition and give me some spending money until I finish. I would have to go to a 10 week training thing next summer for them to start paying. My nly question really is "how was the experience?"
So Sorry, the Marine OCS does not accept persons who brag on the internet about stealing software from Microsoft
It's a code of conduct thing. Honor, basically.
So, you would not get it.
Don't waste your time or that of the Marines. Your destiny lies elsewhere.

My Son is to leave for San Diego in December for Boot camp. He scored high enough to get an appointment for OCS, but hasn't pursued that direction. At this time he is thinking of being a Non Com. He really isn't sure what he wants to do. But he does have two degrees under his belt, so he does have some options.
Having been through the process to go to OCS 3 times and not getting selected, I can offer great deals of information on what the process holds.
If the reasoning for joining the Corps is so that your resume looks better to get into the FBI, then I tell you, you have a long up hill climb, and I'm sure the Corps will get your motives out of you. Dont let anybody fool you into thinking that OCS would be a cake walk. It is a different animal than boot, sure, but no cake walk. You can show up lazy and out of shape to boot camp and they will trian you. OCS? You would have to get a PFT (physical fitness test) score near the top before a OSO will even send you packet to the selection board. The Marine Corps as a whole is years ahead of their recruitment goals, enlisteds are waiting about ten months after signing to go to boot and the officers are taking nothing but the cream of the crop. Basically quit your job, work out and run 5-6 days a week for a year, I hope you have a perfectly clean record and about a 3.5 GPA while being a varsity two sport athelte in college.
Either way good luck, but the FBI does not require a military background, and the military is not for people who want to make their resumes look better and the Marine Corps will figure it out.
Out of curiosity how old are you? PM me if you wish.

Here's some advice 4.6. DO IT! And no you don't go through boot camp...you go to Officer Candidacy School.
I'm 26; just finished graduate school in May 2009.
I applied to OCS with a gradaute degree, 280 pft score, and solid test scores (can't remember what I scored honestly). I was given a spot for either August or October OCS date of last year and I passed it up for a job in the corporate world. I like my job, but it was a mistake. My OSO said that my pft scores had to improve though to stand a chance at actually becoming an officer (I did 34 pullups!)
To be honest, all that I learned from Marines who are my friends, a few retired Officers I know, and learning a lot about our nations military, I should have gone to OCS when i was 23 right out of undergrad. Would have been perfect timing. You have to think about where our country is right now also. We're at war, so deployments are going to happen. From the guys I know in the service, most look forward to them.
Don't go for any reason other than to be a Marine. Not a job resume, not the experience, just simply that you want to serve as a leader of Marines. All other reasons are not acceptable.
Thanks to all the guys on here who have served. You all rock! Wish I could stand beside you today as a veteran, but all I can do is sit here in my manufacturing plant office and say thanks.
Just my $.02

If you want to get technical, its called Basic Combat Training or BCT. But everybody that I know thats gone through it called it boot...Just giving you a hard time! I mainly wanted to make sure you knew that your son did not have to enlist to become and officer of Marines.
