Dyno app

Anybody seen this before? Looks pretty cool but I don't have an iPhone or iPod. It also looks like you can't use a tuner at the same time because it uses the OBDII port.

I don't think I'd plug an Iphone or an Ipod into my truck's OBD port...

Why wouldn't you? Same thing as plugging in a code reader. It connects by wireless anyway, your not plugging it straight in.

Yea, the port is just setting up the wi-fi.

Looks like a waste of money. Why buy an app that won't be accurate when you can just go to the local performance shop and strap it up to a real dyno and get real results?

a real dyno here cost 80 bucks for 2 runs. when i went they did 4 runs. 2 without me back there to make sure they got it all right and 2 with me standing there. not bad for 80 bucks.

An Edge or PHP Gryphon would be a better deal than some iPhone app with gauges.

The Edge/PHP/iPhone/ScanGauge are just the viewing medium, they all get their information from the same place

but I still wouldn't plug one into my truck.

Couple years back I DLed a demo version of something very similar on the iPhone. It was before they had the ability to plug into the vehical. The one cool thing on there was a feature that would track your driving and show you your exceleration and braking in color and map your coarse. It would come in handy if you were on a race track or did alot of Autocross. You could save the info from diffrent tracks and so forth. Other than that it was..ehhh. If this was offered for $80 or so, I might bite off, but not $180.
