Myrtle Beach, SC

For the first time in my life, I will be able to have a full week at the beach. (Most ever was 4 days). Now I'm going to have like 8 days the last week of June into July. I have no clue what to do with my self. I've never had time to really explore or get out b/c of how short a time I was there. Should I just stickto the beach and beer or find a few other things. I hate shopping, (Except for guns/knives/truck parts) I dont really like shows but can make it through those. I don't play golf. Is there anywhere down there to drive on the beach?

Well if you want alot of fun....go during mustang week. that is always a blast. but since that is later on in july, you could hit up some of the shows and go to some nice resturants. there is a bass pro shop also. About driving on the beach, I dont think there is any place close to the main beaches.

The Bass Pro Shop is nice and has a decent resterant in side. Also you have to do Broadway on the Beach, which has the Ripleys Aquarium. Also they have a good resterant called Landrys. Golf is huge also. Nascar resterant. I go every year but do a lot of things with the kids.

Well not too far up the road in Wilmington, you can go see the USS North Carolina, a WWII battleship. Those will be the biggest guns you will ever see.

Wilmington is a fun place to go also. Downtown has alot of things to offer. Such as shops, resturants, and sights. But, most of these are offered in Myrtle and I wouldnt drive up to Wilmington just to do this unless I lived so far away to where it would inconvinence me to go back to Wilmington another time.

Myrtle has a ton of stuff to do but sounds like it might not be the best place for you. Have you looked into Nags Head, Oregon Inlet, Okracoke? At OI and Okracoke you can drive on the beach there, tons of fishing, barely any shops, etc, etc.

That's about it IMO

I live in SC and stay far away from Myrtle Beach personally, not just because I live in SC but I think it's a touristy town and that's just not my style I rather go fishing and boating rather than shopping and laying out at the beach....

Just my .02.... PUTT-PUTT is BA up there though I loved it when I went in HS it was a blast

I'll clarify a little. I'm staying with my in-laws in the beach house they rented. IT"S FREE. I love Wilmington and have stayed there on the beach and in the downtown with the battleship just outside my window. For the record I don't like Myrtle Beach, thats why I was hoping for something that I have missed. I have a Basspro about 45 mins away and puttputt about 5 mins away from the house.

I guess it will be Beer, the balcony, the beach, dark sunglasses, and high powered binoculars;-) for um... Dolphin searching.

You didn't miss anything. Go south - check out Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island.
