designation under "F-series" column

From the home page, under f-series truck" why not have the trucks listed by generation? I know it is now- at least to "pre-1997" but everyone from 1st to 9th generation is lumped into a "catch all" catagory. Maybe it cant be done due to band width concerns...... just curious.

1 First generation (1948–1952)
2 Second generation (1953–1956)
3 Third generation (1957–1960)
4 Fourth generation (1961–1966)
5 Fifth generation (1967–1972)
6 Sixth generation (1973–1979)
7 Seventh generation (1980–1986)
8 Eighth generation (1987–1991)
9 Ninth generation (1992–1996/1997)
10 Tenth generation (1997–2004)
11 Eleventh generation (2004–2008)
12 Twelfth generation (2009–present)

then maybe just a picture of the grill/ front end for each gen...

But, the fat fenders of the 2nd generation make it the sexiest of the bunch.

The first generation is the most special - I may own one some day.

It's too bad this idea does not work out, because I like the way it lists out each generation year. Very informative to new visitors. Bookmark.

10th Gen FTW!

and yes, I'm willing to bet that even Ford thinks the 9th gen is the best, lol.

I have a small gripe about how you set some of these "generations" apart. My feeling is what you call the 7th, 8th, and 9th generation trucks are actually all one generation as the cabs are all identical. You can unbolt and bolt on all the body panels and engine packages without cutting. All the body lines are the same and the only real differences are the lips on the fenders and bedsides and the grille/headlight area. Same with the 11th and 12th.

/rant off.

Nope 5 and 6 are different. The 67-72's are "bumpsides" because the bodyline is raised, the 73-79 are "dentsides" because they have a concave bodyline. The frame length is also different so that you cannot interchange beds or front sheetmetal. The engines and tranny packages are the same and there is some interchangability in the front suspension but you have to go with the whole package when you do (meaning you need to swap springs, I beams and trailing arms when you upgrade the bumpside suspension to dentside stuff for things like power brakes and power steering)
