EcoBoost V6

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere already, but I didn't see it anywhere. Shouldn't be a huge surprise...

The EcoBoost in the F150 is suppose to hit the production lines November 22, 2010. Most likely you'll start seeing them on the lots in some form of volume after the first of the year. I would doubt the number given as being accurate- 400 HP. Yes, the engine is quite capable at that production but it has more work to do in an F-150 than a Taurus and engine life will be an issue. If it makes 300, it will last a long time.

Love it.

Ecoboost is amazing. The paddle shifters really make it fun to drive. I am simply amazed at the power that this things puts to the ground. It's impressive.

Adding it to the F-150 will be a very good thing. It may not be a torque monster but, it'll be a good 'fleet' truck.

This is a good thing since now Ford will have to hire turbocharger technicians to service these. More jobs

I seriously doubt that the Ecoboost will get 400/400 in the F150.

You're right- since its going in a truck its probably going to be geared towards torque. I think 300/500 would be a good number to see

I was thinking more on the lines of 250/300. Ford wouldn't make the base engine able to compete with they're top of the line engine.

The 3.5 Eco-Boost is not the standard or base engine in any F-150. The base engine in a regular cab is the 3.7 V6. The EB will be an upgrade and will require premium gas for optimum performance. I think you'll see around 280-300HP and something around 300-325'lbs torque. Heat with these smaller engines is going to be a problem- you heard it here first. The 5.0 will coming in the F-150 with an 8 qt pan to keep oil temps reasonable.

I just bought a lightly used 09 Limited Flex. I love it so far. Great ride and 21 mpg mixed so far. I retired my truck. It had 145K on it and was running great but the rear pinion seal was leaking. The u-joints needed replacing, both rocker panels were rusted through along with the bottoms of the doors. Engine was strongest part of truck still. She gave me 10 good years. I have access to my father in law's F250 crew cab anytime I need a truck so I decided to make a change.

I think alot of you guys understimate how much torque a turbo can produce... The 400ft lb. number is absolutely believable and achievable. I just hope that, that is the true number.
