The KTM is here
?
All my friends that ride off-road and harescrambles swear by their steering dampeners when it comes to hard terrain, rocks, and roots.
I'm going to wait and see if I need one or not. Heck, I thought this hobby/sport would be somewhat cheap but I just spent about $700 on gear and I got all of it at half price. Then steer dampeners are about $500-700, if I want a Rekluse clutch.... that is another $500-700.
:o

lol, Well, Harley did have their own dirt bike, way back when. It was a 250cc. No 125's or open bores - 500's class. Just an Orange 250 and I believe it was only for one or two year's. It looked good, that's all I can recall about it lol.
I bought this bike from a dealer in Arizona. They bought the bike dirt cheap from another dealer that went out of business. I got about $3,500 off the MSRP on it and didn't have to pay taxes.
Sounds like you got a killer deal. Enjoy and be safe!
i bought a drz400 to trail ride with my son,
we ended up riding tracks so i got honda 450r.
after losing a good friend i desided we need to trail ride.
drz is to heavy for type of aggresive riding, the 450r is to much.
i am now really thinking about a ktm 300.
all of the guys i talk to that do the trail riding and scrambles claim the 300 is the only way to go.

Many of my buddies have the 300 and it is a fine trail bike.
Personally, I like my '02 250EXC with very plush Novation suspension. It's a little less tiring to ride than the 300, though the 300 certainly has more low end grunt for really nasty hills. FWIW, the '02 250EXC is a sensational motor that runs like a 250 MX bike on top but has plenty of grunt down low.
On the steering damper issues, some bikes just need them more than others. On my Hondas and Kawasakis, I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread for offroad riding. My KTM with dialed in suspension seems to get by fine without one.
